AN: Mafuyu and Sasha fanfiction…that's all you need to know. I do not own Seikon No Qwaser or any of its characters.
Mafuyu's Point Of View
What was this that I was feeling? Why was I suddenly so nervous to go downstairs and make breakfast? It was my usual routine so why was I shaking like crazy?
I walked slowly down the stairs and stopped dead in my tracks when I caught a gleam of silver hair on the arm of the couch. My heart beat loudly. Heavily. My hands began to shake as I mustered up some courage to continue walking to the kitchen.
As I reached the door that led to the kitchen, Sasha greeted me quietly so I could barely hear him, "Good morning, Mafuyu."
My eyes widened as I rested my hand on the handle of the door. I gulped as quietly as I could and laughed nervously as I greeted him back. Then I rushed into the kitchen and busied myself with making breakfast.
I almost burnt the rice since I was lost in thought and not paying attention to what I was doing. I panicked but luckily managed to get rid of the smell quickly. Boy was I thankful no one was around to see how out of it I was. Of course, as always, I was wrong. Sasha had been present when I had panicked over the rice that had almost burnt. "What's wrong Mafuyu?"He asked quietly.
"Ehh…nothing, nothing is wrong. I just forgot that I left the heat on high for the rice."I lied as I focused my eyes on the pot of rice.
"Ah,"Sasha said unconvinced.
I cleared my throat and said as calmly as I could, "Why don't you go wake Tomo and wait at the table, breakfast is almost ready."
Sasha stared at me for a moment longer before leaving the room. I sighed in relief as I began to serve the rice on a bowl. What was wrong with me? Why was I acting so nervous around Sasha?
Tomo ate happily, as always, and thanked me for the food. Sasha ate quietly but occasionally glanced over at me. I however, barely touched my food. Tomo excused herself and announced, "I'm going shopping with Teresa-chan and Lizzie! Bye Mafuyu-chan and Sasha-kun!"
Before I could ask if I could tag along she left. I was left with Sasha and my mouth slightly open. When I turned to look at Sasha, I found him staring at me all serious like. I was about to ask 'what' but he spoke first, "Tell me what's wrong, Mafuyu."
"I told you it was nothing."
"Then why have you not eaten? You will feel weak if you don't eat,"Sasha said as he stood.
I couldn't help but yell out, "Stop trying to protect me! I've been doing fine on my own, even before you showed up!"
"Have you?"Sasha asked as he left me alone in the dining room.
I began to cry for some odd reason. What did he know? It's not like he had been there when Tomo and I lost uncle. Or when everybody turned their backs on us and we were bullied by Miyuri and Hana.
I had to remain strong for Tomo all those years. I had to protect her, no matter what I went through. No matter how much I needed protection or saving for myself.
And that's when it hit me.
Ever since Sasha had appeared in my life, he has been saving me, protecting me. Something I thought would never happen to me. Something I have yearned for since I lost my birth parents.
I was so used to being the knight in shining armor that I had ignored Sasha's selfless acts towards me. In a way, I had pushed him away, blocked him from my life.
Sasha knew I was alone. He knew I needed saving. He knew I wanted someone to protect me for once. He knew.
I wiped away my tears and looked for Sasha. I found him reading a book on the couch I had found him laying on earlier. "Sasha…"
Sasha rose from his seat and looked at me as he threw the book aside. I began crying again as I ran to him and hugged him. I heard him gasp in surprise as I hugged him tightly. Eventually he hugged me back while saying my name, almost inaudibly, "Mafuyu..."
I whispered, "Thank you."
And Sasha knew what I meant. He knew.
