My Sister's Back
By: Riley
Summary – Maddie was glad that Liv was home. She knew for sure that their relationship hadn't suffered the four years Liv had been away. No slash, no twincest.
Maddie turned off the TV and yawned, looking at her watch.
It was later than she expected, but the basketball game had been nothing but intense. She would have cheered out loud when her team won, but she didn't want to risk waking anyone else up, so she did a few quick, quiet 'whooos' and her signature 'bam, what?' before watching the highlights. Now that it was over, she needed to get some sleep or she would be up all night. Maddie quietly opened the door to her room and was surprised to see that the lamp light was on. She looked over at the other bed in the room and found her twin sister, Liv, fast asleep.
She must have left the light on for Maddie so she wouldn't have to grope her way through the dark. They had done that so long ago, when one of them was going to sleep and the other was reading or on their computer, they would turn off the lights, but keep the lamp on for the other. Maddie didn't realize she had missed it until that moment.
Maddie moved over to the lamp to turn it off, and did a double take when she got a good look at her sister. She was wearing her shirt, the one that she had given her as a 'going away, don't forget about me' present four years before. It was a dark blue flannel shirt. It had been too big when Maddie had first gotten it and when the day came that her sister left for Hollywood, it didn't matter to Liv how big it was or how it didn't go with her outfit. (She was always the fashion forward one). All that mattered was that her twin sister had given it to her and how much she was going to miss her.
Maddie smiled softly. She wasn't sure if Liv was excited to see her when she had gotten back, she talked about herself enough. But if Liv was sleeping in her shirt and obviously had taken good care of it over the years, she really did care. Maddie grimaced at how mean she had been to Liv earlier that day, how she had wanted Liv to go back to Hollywood even though she was just trying to help her. There were many times where Maddie felt that she was close to hating Liv. She never got to that point though, because they weren't just sisters. They were twins, and no one could understand that bond more than Liv could.
I wonder what my life would be like without her. Maddie quickly shook the thought out of her head. She couldn't even begin to try and think about it, it was too scary. They were Liv and Maddie. Maddie and Liv. They didn't work without each other. Maddie turned off the light before leaning over and grabbing Liv's blankets, pulling them up over her shoulders.
She turned and started to walk back to her bed.
"Good night, Maddie," she heard Liv said sleepily.
Maddie smiled. "Good night, Liv."

AUTHOR'S NOTE TO GUEST: Being a quadruplet, I was actually a bit annoyed with your review. You don't have to be born on the same day to be a twin. You are conceived at the same time and have one egg split in two or have two separate eggs that are fertilized at the same time to be twins. Being born on different days has nothing to do with being twins as there can be birthing complications that can make twins or other multiples born days apart, but are still indeed multiples.
A/N: Whoo! First Liv and Maddie fic! I was hesitant about watching the preview because I thought that it would be like every other Disney show. But I really liked it and kudos to Dove Cameron for doing a duel role so convincingly. I think I like the show a lot because I, myself, am part of a set of multiples, quadruplets in fact (We're all on FFN, one of my sisters and I share this account). So some ways we can relate to the show.
Just a short, fluffy one-shot about their sister relationship.
I hope you guys liked it.
Cheers,
-Riles
