I wanna go on American idol

Karma is a sophomore at Clement University and Amy is her dorky Film Studies major roommate. Karma is desperate to enter American Idol, and convinces BFF Amy to help shoot her audition tape. AU

We were sitting in Amy's room drinking tea and reading magazines

i had been thinking about something and decided to tell her

'Ames i think im gonna audition for american idol!'

Amy nearly spit out her tea when hearing that

'Karms... im supportive of you... but are you sure you wanna do it?' Amy looked at me wide eyed

'well i've thought about it, and im sure i wanna do it!' i said, smiling sheepishly at the blonde staring back at me

'super sure?'

'super sure!'

'we should do an audition tape then' Amy said putting her tea back down

We set up my phone on a huge pile of books

'this will have to work' Amy said sighing

i heard a click and then a countdown started, Amy sat beside me on the bed, holding my hand

'you're gonna do amazing' she whispered

'Hello, my name is Karma Ashcroft, and this is Amy'

i began singing Straight up by Paula Abdul, it was easy, the words just flowed out

after singing Amy kissed my cheek 'you sang so well!'

she then stood up and turned the camera off

'i'll email this for you, you'll kill it, i know you will'

i smiled at her, she went to get her laptop

'and sent!'

i released a breath i didn't know i was holding

'wanna get ice cream?' Amy asks me

i get a call two months later

'hello, Karma Ashcroft?' a raspy voice says

'yes that's me?'

'uh, we saw your audition, and we'd like to get you on our show on friday'

'oh my god really?'

'yes and we'd love to have your girlfriend Amy to join you, seeing more diversity on our show will be good for our audience'

'sorry? can you repeat that' i knew perfectly well what they said, but i couldn't believe my ears

'your girlfriend, the one on your video, is that alright with you?'

'yeah- yeah its great, ill be there'

i turned off the phone and ran into Amy's room

'Amy Amy, im in!' i told her

'in what?' she questioned tilting her head slightly

'American idol!'

'oh my gosh Karms i knew you could do it!'

'but- there's a catch' i told her

'what is it?' she stared at me

'they think we're dating'
