Come What May

Chapter One
"It must be horrible to be a criminal, Sirius," Sirius Black said, mocking his cousin as he walked down a dark ally, "Well it is now! Blast." Sirius tripped over the rock that he was kicking and began to think he was losing his coordination with every step. If only Bellatrix hadn't blown him to who knows where, he'd still be treating his rather idiotic cousin to butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade Village.
"Blimy! Watch where you're going, you filthy rag!" Murmured a tall fifteen-year-old with jet-black hair and emerald green eyes.
"Harry? What are you doing here?" Sirius whispered.
"Hermione and Ron are at the library at Hogwarts, but I wanted to come out and take a walk around the courtyard." Harry explained, his thick coat sprinkled with snow.
"Ah. Well, why aren't you in school? Hogwarts is the only safe place you have anymore. Even if…" Harry Potter interrupted Sirius.
"Hogwarts isn't even safe enough anymore. For anyone, Sirius." Harry stated with a serious expression.
"Harry! We've been looking all over for you!" Harry turned around and saw Hermione, bushy hair and all, running towards them.
"Sirius? How did you get…" Harry placed his hand over Hermione's mouth and Sirius ducked under a bush.
"Quick, use the invisibility cloak!" Ron snapped from behind Hermione. Harry handed Sirius the cloak as Draco Malfoy and his posse, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, neared them.
"Well, look who it is. Weasel, Mudblood, and Potty. What's going on here, Potter?" Draco hissed with amusement.
"Buzz off, Malfoy. Filthy snakes like you have no business talking to us." Ron growled. Hermione gazed at Ron with an angry expression crossing her face.
"Well, looks like Granger the Mudblood knows what's going on. Tell me, girl!" Draco smiled, his white teeth glistening. Now I'll know. Granger has to tell, he thought. Hermione looked desperately at Harry and Ron for help.
"We were just talking about how much of a nasty brute you are." Ron commented, sending laughter surging between Crabbe and Goyle.
"Shut up, you two! Let's go." Draco retorted savagely. And with that, Draco turned on his heel and strode off, his cloak billowing. Ron raised his wand and started to say and incantation, but Hermione lowered his hand.
