"You will meet a tall, dark stranger."

Carole put down the horoscope.

"Yeah right," she thought.

Like she was gonna meet anyone, especially on this day with her plans. Her dark plans. Her last plans.

She got up, and walked out of the apartment. It was a sunny day, and most people around her seemed happy. She wasn't happy. She heard the birds sing, and she felt like they were mocking her.

She reached the bridge and went to the middle. She just stood there looking down at the water. Would it hurt? Would it be over as soon as she hit the water? She had no idea. She started crying silently.

"Beautiful day," a voice next to her suddenly sounded.

She quickly wiped her eyes and looked at him. He was a tall, dark guy with dreadlocks.

"Yeah..." She tried, and looked down at the water again.

She didn't want him to see her face.

"Enjoying the view?" He asked.
"Something like that," she answered.
"Mind if I enjoy it with you?" He asked.
"It's a free country," she answered.

He laughed a little.

"Yeah, it is. I'm Kofi," he said.
"I'm Carole," she said.
"Pretty name," he said.

She didn't answer. They stood a bit in silence.

Kofi didn't go away. It started to annoy her. Her mind had been set when she left home, and now he was here bothering her. She didn't want him to see this. She let out a low sigh.

She suddenly felt his hand on her.

"Don't do this," he said.
"Do what?" She asked.
"You know what I'm talking about. I could see it in your face when I crossed the bridge. Don't do this. Come with me and talk for a while, and maybe you'll see things more clear tomorrow," he said.
"Or maybe I'll come back tomorrow when you're gone," she said.
"Maybe. But you will never know unless you take a leap of faith and go with me. When it all boils down to it, does one extra day matter?" He asked.

She turned her head and looked at him, and then nodded. He took her hand, and they walked together.

"You will meet a tall, dark stranger..."
