Clark Kent walked to the building of the Daily Planet, still disturbed by the darkness he displayed as the Demolisher. As usual, Lois Lane was in the elevator before him. She wore the same look of annoyance that she did most days, caused by Perry's insistence on giving her "flimsy" stories. The annoyance this time, however was paired with the wide-eyed look one usually gets when drinking an excessive amount of coffee. Lois Lane lived on coffee and by now should have been past the faux-high.

"Lois, are you okay? You seem a bit...frazzled."

"I'm fine, Smallville, just had to have ten or so extra cups of coffee this morning."

"Why, if you don't mind my asking."

"I mind, but as a reporter, I think it's only fair for me to answer when I ask people questions without even bothering to ask for their permission. I was working on a piece about the Billionaires for Benevolence dinner last night and just as I'm about to finish, the computer shuts off on me."

"You really should remember to save your documents, Lois."
"You should remember to save your comments. Anyway, I was up another three hours because of that piece of junk."

"What time did you go too sleep?"
"Six A.M."
"Oh."

"'Oh,' indeed. Think it was a power outage."

"Could it have been a power outage?"

"It's possible. Sounds like I'm not the only one this has happened to. Heard some poor sap in the women's bathroom crying because she was gonna miss her deadline."

"I think I heard the same thing in men's."
"Well, there you have it. Perhaps I should look into this."

Clark recognized the journalistic curiosity in Lois's voice.

Imagine what would have happened if he let the power plant explode.
