Flashbacks
Sonic the hedgehog was watching playfully while his baby brother Tails practised his fighting skills on a mini punch bag. Tails wasn't his real baby brother by blood but Sonic often remembered the days when Tails and he became brothers
FLASHBACK
"Alright, what a perfect day to go for a run. I feel a need for speed coming on!" Sonic yelled to no one in particular to the forest in front. He was about to hit 90mph when he felt something fall on his head. "YOUCH!" He yelled "What the heck was that?" He looked around and saw a little brown ball of fur on the floor behind him "What the?" he thought before moving to touch the little fur ball. He backed away when he heard it moan.
"Wha…Where, where am I?" The ball uncurled to show a little baby fox, which only looked about 3 or 4 years old. "Mommy!" the kit suddenly called out. Sonic walked over to him and tried to attract his attention. The kit turned round suddenly as Sonic moved forward.
"Hey there kid, what's your name?" He asked in the quietest voice he could as not to scare the kid, but he did happen to get startled.
"Who? Who are you? Where's my mommy" The small child asked fearfully. Sonic held him in his arms as the kit began to sob uncontrollably.
"Shh, it's alright kid, you're safe with me, so what's your name keed?" he asked again.
"M…Mi…Miles." The kit said quietly. Lifting his tear-stained face up to the hedgehog. Sonics' heart literally broke at the sight.
"Hey, hey kid, where do you live?" he asked. Miles lowered his head, where did he live; he used to live somewhere, and had someone to live there with, now it was al gone.
"No…No where n…now." He moaned. Sonic was beginning to realise that this poor kit had lost everything, most likely to a fat, bald egghead like Robotnick. Sonic scowled at the thought. Then had a thought. Miles had no home and possibly no family out there. What's to stop him from living with Sonic?
"Hey Tails?" He called, not realising the name he'd just called the little fox, well that was until the fox gave him a confused stare.
"Tails?" he asked. The name sounded cool, like Sonics, but who was he talking about.
"Oh, hehe, sorry bud. I kinda made up a nickname. I saw the look on your face when you told me your name." Sonic said scratching the back of his neck and finding the floor very interesting all of a sudden. Then Miles appeared under him.
"Tails… I like it Sonic." Sonic smiled and gave the kit a wink.
"So anyway. You said you don't have any where to go right?" Sonic asked. Mi…Tails looked at the floor sadly and nodded. Sonic lifted his chin up to face him. "Well how would you like to come to knothole to live with me? Whadya say, Tails?" Tails beamed and jumped into the hedgehogs awaiting arms.
"Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy. You mean it Sonic?" Sonic smiled and held the kit close too him.
"You bet ya little buddy, but you gotta start getting used to a lot of cuddles of my friends." He laughed. Smiling at seeing visions of Tails being choked to death by Sally and Bunnies' hugs.
END FLASHBACK
Sonic wouldn't ever forget that day, Tails quickly adjusted to life here, and everyone loved him. Over time Sonic and Tails had grown close and most of the freedom fighters had begun calling them big brother and little brother. That's how it would always be. Sonic protected Tails from everything, and Tails showed his love for Sonic in return. Then everything would be alright. Right?
