A/N: This is a companion piece to my other piece, titled "Chimera". It's my take on what happened after the show. I have been very blessed with reviews lately (xfilesjunkie and MildlyInsane…Thanks very much) but would like many more; I guess I'm greedy. There is another piece I hope to post like this one. Its like a story with two endings…one where Mulder and Scully are a slightly more established couple and one where they aren't. (This is the one where they aren't) I hope you enjoy.
A/N 2: Inspiration for this story came from Plus One by ElizabethAnnFanfic…the two stories are very different and I encourage you to check out hers its amazing.

"Chimera"

SPOV/MPOV
My phones rings, and the shrill sound wakes me from my sleep. I scramble through my covers to find the piece of metal and hurriedly flip it open.
"Scully." I mutter gruffly.
"It's Mulder I-"
"- didn't I tell you," I interrupt, "I was sleeping 'till late spring."
"I come bearing gifts." I sigh.
"Let yourself in."
I hang up and slide back under my various blankets.
--
I chuckle, slide the door I just opened shut and move into the kitchen. I open the plastic bag I carry and the plastic containers it contains. I locate the plates and mugs easily and transfer the food and coffee from their plastic containers onto or into their ceramic counter parts. I carry the plate, mug, and silverware carefully down the hall and into Scully's room. She sits up as I approach and stares at me quietly.
--
"What's that?" I ask.
"Breakfast in bed." He comes closer.
He sets the mug full of what smells like coffee on my side table and deftly climbs over me with the plate. I look at him curiously and he grins.
"I get the feeling you're not used to someone taking care of you."
--
She stares at me and it looks adorable. Her dry slightly parted lips, her bed tussled hair, and cleaned rinsed face. Even in her pale blue silk pajama top and white cotton shorts, at 7:00 in the morning, she looks beautiful.
"never mind" I soothe and brush a hand over her forehead. I settle in beside her and take the fork, I cut off a piece of egg and let it fly to her mouth.
"Eat." I encourage and she does. Her parched lips delicately devour the morsel and I smile.
--
It seems surreal to be sitting in bed with him, letting him feed me. We've talked little, but neither of us seem to mind. The silence isn't awkward, but peaceful. I'm nodding off against the head board, when he moves the plate from his lap and shrugs a tan muscular arm around my shoulders.
"Sleep, go on" he encourages, but before I do, I look up at him. My breath shakes as his fingers trace my face he moves in closer and his lips gently make contact.
'Sorry, for leaving you there." he apologizes, leaning away.
"You made up for it." I smile and he grins, moving in again.
A/N: Love it, hate it…let me know.
