Chapter 1

Hey! This is my first fanfic. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but please don't be too harsh!

Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon. If I did, Gary and Paul would be in the Unova region. I do, however, own my original character.

And on with the story!

Christine lay awake: tossing and turning, just trying to fall asleep. Eventually, she realized that she was too excited. She was starting her pokemon journey the next day. Christine would leave on a boat to the Sinnoh region with Gary and Ash: her best friend and rival respectively. Christine's green eyes flashed open. She silently brought her long, straight, dirty blond hair into a high ponytail. There was no need for it to get in her way. The lanky teen opened her window and climbed down the tree that was planted right outside her room. She was soon met with the warm, gentle May breeze. Christine smiled to herself as she made her way to an empty field that was on Professor Oak's property. He was Gary's grandfather, and she knew she never had to ask permission to go there. This was where the green eyed girl always went to think. Once she chose her starter pokemon from Prof. Rowan in Sinnoh, it would be her third pokemon. She currently had a Houndour that her father had given her the moment she received her pokemon license. He wanted his only daughter to have a pokemon he knew and trusted. Christine would be getting an Eevee from Professor Oak the day she started her journey. Gary would also get and Eevee, and Ash was to receive a Pikachu. Prof. Oak said these pokemon were going away presents. Even though he wasn't giving them official starter pokemon, he still wanted to give them something.

"You couldn't sleep either, huh?" came a voice behind her. This voice belonged to Gary Oak, her very best friend in the world. Christine sighed.

"Nope," she replied, looking at the tall, brown eyed boy. He had brown, spiky hair, and a calming aura. He said nothing, but instead waited for her to continue. She didn't say anything. The girl in question just looked at the stars. Gary didn't want to push her, because he knew that would anger his closed friend. And honestly, he was scared of her temper. She sulked around, and looked like she was about to punch the next unfortunate soul who crossed her path. While this normally wouldn't bother the overly proud and arrogant boy, it was different with Christine. She was tough, and, if she was mad enough, could probably put Gary in the hospital. Eventually, the young lady's weight could be felt on the teen's shoulder. He quickly realized she was completely asleep. As this was fairly normal, the boy lifted his friend and started walking to the lab, a.k.a, his home. Once Gary got there, he set her down on the couch and placed a blanket over her. He then proceeded to head to his own room. He knew he would see the girl in the morning.
