This is my first serious fanfiction. Well, actually it is my first EVER fanfiction. I hope you like it. Please criticize it!

We live in a world inhabited by mutants. All of the humans were killed on that famous and also infamous day, the day that Professor X sacrificed his life to destroy the infestation of hatred and ignorance. Not much is known about what happened at Alkali Lake, but what was told to us by our savior, Magneto.

The group, X-Men, were traitors to their own kind, the mutants. They helped the humans, they worked with the humans, and they were doomed to die with the humans. The X-Men failed to stop the professor, resulting in the cleansing of the Earth. The dam then broke, after being weakened during the battle, killing off both Professor X and the X-Men themselves. The Professor's sacrifice will always be remembered.

Those that survived included Magneto and his trusty followers, as well as an evil that still plagues us today. A monster was born when the dam broke. A seemingly insignificant mutant going by the name of Jean Grey also survived the breaking of the dam. When at danger of dying, her powers were awakened to their full potential, potential that reached impossible proportions. The Phoenix was born.

Magneto was able to band together most the remaining inhabitants of the Earth, the mutants, in order to fight the threat. Some mutants hated Magneto for taking part in killing their loved ones, and joined together in order to seek revenge for ridding the world of humans. Others, afraid that Phoenix's power was too great to be destroyed, appealing to her, becoming both her slaves and play things. All that remained of a world inhabited by humans were completely at odds.

The battles tore apart everyone in its path. Our beloved hero, Magneto, and some of his most trusted fighters were killed in the first world-wide mutant war. All those that wanted to take revenge in behalf of the humans were swept away as Phoenix's ever-growing influence spread across the globe. Soon, her iron grip covered everything.

We are still fighting. We are still trying to get our freedom. For Magneto and for freedom, we fight. We are The Rebellion.
