A/N: Okay a nice little onesie on a young Hermione. Everyone in my house is re-reading them, plus the quiz that Waterstones are currently doing sparked debates amongst my mother and sister's extensive knowledge of the books this little one formed from there.

Please Enjoy and Review.

"Okay we need Standard Book of Spells, History of Magic, Magical Theory…" Eleven Year Old Hermione Granger reeled off to her absent-minded parents, who looking around them constantly in fear. Diagon Alley was not a place they liked to be, the sights and smells of the Alley had made Mr and Mrs Granger realise that the world they had lived in for thirty forty years wasn't all they had thought. The new surroundings may have scared her parents but Hermione was excited.

Her letter from Hogwarts had made her realise she was something special, a lot more than Amanda Glen. The bushy haired girl also realised the time she'd made bratty Amanda's juice carton explode wasn't really her fault! It'd been her magic. She was no longer the quiet little kid who'd preferred reading by herself than going outside for break, she didn't have to be the child that was always second best to Amanda and her snobby parents who threw their money at her primary school for their little Mandy to be the teachers pet. She could be herself; anyone she wanted to be, dreamed to be.

Browsing through the numerous shelves Hermione pulled her hair back into a pony as she realised there was no sense of rhyme or reason to the ordering of the books. Hermione Granger had loved reading since the first time she could recognise a word; every world the author created, every character came to life and surrounded her bedroom. The books in front of her both scared and thrilled her – something new to learn, always to learn, to know there was something more than what she had originally thought. But until she worked out the order system for Flourish and Blotts, they'd remain a mystery.

Someone tapped her on the shoulder, she turned to see a smiley sales assistant.

"Can I help Miss?" He beckoned towards the list.

"Oh Please!" She smiled as the young man rushed off and gathered the textbooks for her, he deposited them on the counter and priced them up. "Is there any chance I can get some background reading books?" Hermione cleared her throat, eyeing her parents still huddled by the door. "I'm new, shall we say to the magical world." The assistant smiled at her even more.

"Non-magic parents?" He nodded and pulled out four extra textbooks. "These helped me loads when I first started Hogwarts like you." He winked and she grinned as he totalled the cost. "If you need a hand with anything I can draw you a quick map, like I said I remember how confusing it was first time round." She looked even more relieved and nodded, his quick hand sketching a map and labelling them all.

"Thank you Sir." She grinned leaving a behind all her change as a tip.

"Enjoy Hogwarts Miss. It'll completely change your life." He smiled as he wrapped them up.
