Valerie's POV
I was lying on the guestroom's bed (which was temporarily my bed) reading, when I heard the sound of the TV being turned on coming from the living room. For a moment, I wondered. Should I go there? I had been here alone, doing the same thing for the past two hours, and I was honestly growing bored. Deciding a little socialization would be good for me, I put the book down and hopped out of bed.
Slowly, I walked to the other room and peeked throught the half-open door. What i saw was the TV and a bit of platinum blond hair and pointy ears.
It was Gasper. He was watching TV on the couch, and probably sitting in his cardboard box. Oh, Gasper's box...
Flashback: a few weeks before
The bedroom door creaked open, and Gasper's head popped in.
"Hey Valerie I-I thought you might want some company, so i brought some cards to play." He said with a shy smile.
Returning the smile, I answered. "Aaw thanks Gasper, come in."
He did. Handing me a pack of cards, he placed his cardboard box on my bed and went to sit in it.
"You sure like that box." I giggled.
"I do, it maked me feel safe." He replied, and casually added "and I would never let anyone else sit in it."
I raised my eyebrow. "Absolutely no one?"
"No. W-well, only someone very special." A slight pink blush covered his cheeks.
"Ooh, who? Your girlfriend?" I chuckled teasingly.
His blush turned darker while he answered, with a clearly embarressed expression. "W-well, s-sure, when I get one..."
To avoid further questions, he grabbed the pack of cards from my hand. "L-let's just play..." He stuttered, still blushing. So he handed out the cards and we started playing.
End of Flashback
Everytime I thought about what he had said, I felt a mixture of sadness and jealousy rising. Sadness because apparently I wasn't special enough for him to ask me to sit in his box with him, and jealousy because there will be a day when he'll get someone special, and will let her sit in his box. And that someone wouldn't be me...
I shook those thoughts from my mind and walked through the door.
"Hi Gasper. Can I watch TV with you?" I asked, smiling.
"Oh, h-hello Valerie. S-sure, sit down." he stuttered, an instant blush covering his face in a way too cute for words.
So I walked to the group of brownish sofas. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that, althought Gasper was sitting in a box, it wasn't his regular box. It looked different... Bigger i guess...
I shrugged at the thoughts while taking a step towards one of the smaller sofas that were beside the big one where Gasper (and his box) were sitting, deciding it was probably not really important.
I then felt a small tug on my sleeve. Looking behind, Gasper was flushing in a deep shade of red. I could tell he was honestly embarressed.
After a deep breath, he said, a little too loud:
"V-Valerie... P-Please... S-Sit with me!"
He shifted to one side of the box, leaving enough space for me. Understanding what he meant, my heart skipped a beat and I felt my face heat up. So, carefully, I sat next to Gasper, in his box...
We spent the rest of the day sitting there, watching TV, but never really watching it. In silence, our minds were focused on each other, while our trembling hands shyly met each other, and held one another until night fell.
