The Way You Look At Me

Everybody thought she was dumb. In high school, it was only a natural assumption that all blondes were completely devoid of brains. One look at her perfect blonde hair, perfectly ironed Cheerio's uniform and perfect body, and the stereotype was already ingrained into your head. Brittany S. Pierce was what you'd call 'a little slow.' She never caught on to the jokes that went on around her.

When there came that special day that she did catch on, it was always five minutes after the joke was said. Quite frequently she'd say things that would make others around her do a double take. It was almost a consensus among the student body that she was probably from another planet. She herself had already admitted to being probed, so it all made sense.

It was also commonplace knowledge that you never said these things to her face. No matter how bizarre her statements were, you never voiced you opinion for all to hear. Upon doing so, a very spicy Latina girl had a habit of showing up and beating the crap out of said offender. Because of this very threatening repercussion, everyone had to just grin and bare her odd behavior and speech patterns.

Weird thing about Brittany that probably no one would suspect. Brittany had a secret. A secret that she kept to herself, one which brought a smile to her face every time that she thought about it. It never occurred to her that smiling to herself in the hallway when no one was around was doing nothing to stop the various whispers going on behind her back. It didn't matter much to her, though. With this secret, she held all the power, and she had no intention of sharing.

Later in the day, all of the Glee kids were gathered in a circle, listening to their teacher ramble on about one thing or another. Most of them were day dreaming about their fellow Glee members, some day dreaming about home work, others about which outfit to wear tomorrow. It was in that precise moment that Mr. Schue made a vital mistake. "So, now I'd like to open the floor to any questions or statements you may have about today's glee meeting."

From the back of the room, the sound of someone moving slightly in their chair, and a timid voice breaking the silence.

She knew it was time. The entire day had almost passed without her using the 'secret' weapon, and it was time to put her plan into action.

"Did you guys know that duct tape is like the force? It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together. It's a true story. I read it in the clouds."

The silence that came after this statement was almost deafening. There was only one person who turned to her at this point, the only person that mattered. The incredulous look that she received made her heart leap into her throat.

In reality, Brittany wasn't as dumb as she appeared to be. She was just as intelligent as the other glee kids, but she chose not to show it. The only reason she said the things that she said was to be on the receiving end of Santana's baffled look.

To be honest, she thought it was incredibly sexy the way Santana's face scrunched up, her brow knitted together in confusion. Nearly every day she would say something to evoke that reaction, and each and every time she felt the erratic movements of butterflies in her stomach.

Smiling softly, she pretended to float back into her own day dreams, while looking at Santana from the corner of her eye.

"B, what the hell? Uhh...you know what? Never mind. My house after Cheerios practice?"

Brittany's face immediately lit up. "Totally."

Another not-so-secret 'secret' of hers : her love for Santana Lopez. She knew that one day, they'd be a happy couple. After all, she had read it in the clouds.
