I don't own Criminal Minds

Enjoy

I don't even recognize my reflection anymore. I only see a person that was once happy and full of life.

Spencer was walking down the street. It was a rainy and cold day in the city. The city was full of people in black coats and umbrellas. The city looks bleak and empty when the weather was like this. He sat on a bench and watched the people go by. No one smiled and no one seemed to really pay attention to what was happening around them.

Spencer looked at his watch; it was almost time to go to work. "Why does it matter anymore" thought Spencer. Since that terrible case only one year ago, oh how well he remembered that case.

The team was trying to catch a serial arsonist. He set fire to almost twenty buildings. He set a trap for the team. When they entered a house that they thought the unsub was hiding in, instead they found explosives and a timed detonator. The whole place blew to pieces. Hotch…JJ…Garcia… Morgan…Rossi…and Prentiss, were all gone. Spencer was the only survivor, but the explosion forced the doctors to amputate his right hand and foot, since they were so badly damaged.

Since that day, Spencer rarely left his apartment, except to go to work. Strauss couldn't let him be in the field anymore so he was mostly stuck with office work. Every day was routine for him now and every day his depression grew.

On the bench Spencer suddenly stood up and started to run.

He ran and ran and ran and ran and ran……………………………………

Then finally he stopped. He looked around; he had no idea where he was. The paved streets of the city became a small dirt road. Trees and the scent of pine surrounded him, yet he felt uneasy here. He looked to his left and saw a lamppost and standing under it was a young woman in a black dress. Her eyes were puffy and red, most likely from crying. Her wrists were cut and her arms were covered in blood.

"Why are you here Spencer, you shouldn't be here" she said.

"What do you mean and who are you" asked Spencer.

"A person how made the same mistake that you're about to make."

Spencer looked down in shame, tears stung his eyes.

"Spencer…losing all the people you love in only an instant is hard, but don't let that destroy you. There is more for you to do Spencer."

The woman and the lamppost vanished. Spencer blinked and found himself back at the bench in the city. He only had ten minutes to get to work. Spencer got up and went to the office. He signed his resignation papers that day and left the office for good.

Spencer got a job in New York City as a medical technician. He loved his job and working with the people there. Slowly he began to make new friends and a new life for himself. One that was defiantly not as dangerous as catching psychopaths.

Back at the BAU office, Strauss introduces a new team to the office. Three men named Bill, Roger and Frank. Also two women named Emma and Jane. They showed great potential and courage. They were ready to face the world.

After Strauss got them settled in, she went into her office and got out a framed photograph. She went outside of her office and placed the picture of a plaque that read

BAU TEAM 2004-2010

Strauss stared at the picture for a few moments "You will all be missed" she said silently and went back to work.
