I watched Kyo mope around. He sighed, looked out the window, and frowned. His orange hair was lacking its usual luster and even his quick temper was slow to ignite. He hadn't changed out of pijamas in two days and was barely able to feed himself. If I didn't come around every other day, he'd be starved by now.

"Come on Kyo. Perk up." I called still busy in the kitchen. "Just three more days you know."

He didn't even look at me just heaved a morose sigh and plopped his chin on his hand. The weather matched his attitude perfectly. Dreary and gray. A heavy fog almost a light drizzle hung limply over sky covering it completely.

I heard the front door unlock, open. The dry rustle of brown bags and a few quiet curses; my wife appeared in the doorway. A strand of her brown hair hung in her face and she looked every bit the harassed women I knew she was. She puffed her lip out and huffed, blowing the hair up then directly back down.

"Machi." I couldn't help feel a surge of love for her, my imperfect wife, with her peculiar disorganization.

I walked to her, kissed her cheek, and pulled the food out from her hands. She wiped them on her dress and peered into the other room at Kyo. She rolled her eyes and watched while I sorted food and began to make Kyo enough food to last.

"I hope you know," Machi said her voice soft music. "That I'm perfectly capable of functioning when you're out of town."

"That's not quite what I would like to hear." I laughed and pressed a kiss on to her lips. "Go cheer him up."

She nodded and turned padding gracefully to Kyo. I could hear them whispering and caught snatches of their conversation. Half listening to their discussion half making their food, I searched in the bags for a tomato. No luck, Machi must have forgotten.

"I'm going back out for a tomato." I called to them and heard Machi say to Kyo, "Tohru will be back in three days and she won't like to find you in this state."

Shaking my head I pulled on my jacket and left the door clicking softly behind me. One thing was for sure, Kyo had certainly not lied when he told Tohru he hated not being with her.
