Chapter 1; Orange Might
They had won. In every sense of the word, they had succeeded in every single one of their goals. The corrupted gems were healed, the Diamonds were no longer wanting them dead, and many more smaller things.
Steven was happy with how everything turned out, and his new song idea. As he sat on the couch in his beach house, the autumn wind breezing through the window, he smiled. Connie would be coming over soon to hang and Steven had an awesome plan for them.
"Guys, I'm heading out" Steven said this as he hopped off the couch. He looked around and then remembered that everyone was off helping the now un-corrupted gems get accustomed to Earth. Steven wanted to help, but Garnet explained that it might be best for him to wait, as many of the gems were going to need a long explanation of the whole Pink Diamond/Rose/Steven thing.
His mom. As Steven walked down the stairs of the beach house, he couldn't help but remember that when he was hugging his gem, himself, he heard her laugh.
His mother's laugh.
He shook the thought, not wanting to get upset as he sat off for the Big Doughnut, his mind lost in thought. As much as he hoped o someday see his mom, it was now impossible. He was still glad though, that at the very least, he got to hug some form of her.
"Oh, hiya Steven!" said boy spun around to see Ranoldo Fryman sitting on a bench with a gem next to him. It turned out to be one of the many Nephrites, which much to Steven's surprise, was holding a phone in her hands.
"Hey Ranoldo, hi Nephrite" Steven smiled at them both as he caught a glimpse of what the Nephrite was watching. It was some kind of anime.
"She seems to really like it" Ranoldo smiled at Steven as he waved the two farewell before finally getting to the Big Doughnut, his stomach grumbling. He got himself his usual and exited the building. However, right as he got out, he was confronted by a similar gem that he used to be deathly afraid of.
"Jasper!' Steven suddenly jumped back, hitting his head hard on the door from being startled. Steven rubbed his head as Jasper offered him a hand. Reluctantly, he accepted it, only for jasper to throw him as hard as she could. Steven gasped for breath as he went flying over the hill of the Temple and was just barely able to stop himself from crashing as he landed in front of his home.
"ROSE QUARTZ!" he could see Jasper coming down at him like a flaming Ball as Steven quickly dodged past her, the orange gem crashing hard into the sand. "You SICK, NASTY - "
"STOP!" Steven was now starting to get slightly annoyed. A small part of him hoped that maybe Jasper had gone off to redeem herself when they couldn't find her at the fountain. But now here she was, wanting to kill him all over again. "For the last time, I am NOT ROSE!" he lifted his shirt up and Jasper gasped. Steven's gem, after he had reunited with himself, had turned to the shape that Pink Diamonds was.
"Is this... is this some sort of nasty trick..." Jasper collapsed in the sand, broken. Steven sat across from her.
"It's... well where do I start..."
XxXxXxXxXxX
"You aren't kidding, are you...?" Jasper just stared at Steven, emotionless as the wind stopped completely.
"No" Steven replied simply. "I'm sorry that you had to learn it this way, and I know how you're feeling"
"Just... can i say bye... to her...?" for the first time ever, Jasper seemed genuinely sad, tears forming in her eyes.
"Sure... just after that, call me Steven, okay?" Jasper nodded and Steven lifted up his shirt.
"My Diamond... I apologize. I apologize for committing the actions and atrocities I have wrongfully done. I bid you farewell..." Jasper collapsed again after that, her face blank. She then lied down in the sand, staring up at the cloudless sky.
"You gonna be okay?" Steven was next to her now, offering the buff orange gem a hand, who took it and stood up.
"I... yeah... yeah I will..." she looked down at Steven and offered a very small, faint smile.
