I wrote this one shot after Repmetsyrrah posted a drawing of Superman and Perry restarting the globe after the events of SR over at Bluetights.

"Jason is yours, you are a father Kal El."

The words hang in the air as her footsteps take her away from his bedside. Little feet run towards him, a gentle kiss on his forehead, and then they are gone. The only sounds left are the noise of the crowd outside, the noises from the monitors beeping incessantly, and Lois's voice telling him he is a father.

I didn't know, Lois. I would have never left if I had known.

As the last of the day's sunlight ebbs from his window, Kal El, last son of Krypton gingerly arose from his hospital bed. His muscles were sore from the strain of lifting a load even he had doubted he could lift. The wound from Luthor's shiv healing into a scar: a reminder to watch his back. He dresses quickly in the iconic suit, the attire that kept him separate: a constant reminder 'You are not one of them.'

But now he is one of them. He belongs, his son proof.

Slipping out the window Kal El is once again free. The last of the suns rays reach out to him, recharging his tired body. As he soars above the city his gaze is drawn to a building. After so much damage, it still stands, as much a symbol for the battle for truth as he. The building is naked; the last piece that makes it an icon – the giant globe still missing, left in the plaza below.

Kal El sees Perry White standing on the roof watching the sky and smiles as he alights near the great editor. "Could you use a hand?"

"I was just wondering how we would ever get that back up," Perry answered nodding towards the globe. "How are you feeling?"

"Alive. I feel alive." Kal El answered as he lifted the globe onto its pedestal.

Perry White watched the hero as he easily lifted the giant sculpture back into place. With great pride Perry pushed the buttons that would light the world and send it spinning into the future. The Planet and Superman would both survive.

"Thank you." Perry murmured as Superman flew off. "See you at work tomorrow – Clark."
