-Sirius Talks-

A Marauder Short

Lily Evans walked down the corridor, after just having turned down James for the millionth time that day.

Sirius, who had seen the whole thing, pulled Lily aside, resting against a stone column.

"He really loves you." He breathed.

"Yeah, I know." said she, sitting down on the floor, pulling her knees to her chest, looking up at Sirius.

"No, I don't think you do," he sighed. "You haven't had to hear about how 'great and wonderful Lily Evans is' every day since the beginning of first year. You haven't stayed up night after night listening to that boy roll around in frustration, kicking his bed post repeatedly, counting out the number of times you had rejected him that week, so far." His eyes never left her, for they were full of a powerful sorrow for his friend. "He would've had me falling in love with you if I didn't think he was a bloody lunatic."

"Yeah, I might believe you, and maybe James too, if he weren't known as the biggest womanizer on campus." She huffed, rolling her eyes to fight back tears.

"Oh yeah?" Sirius stepped forward. "Every single girl that he's ever been with has hit on him first, been part of some scheme to make you jealous, or to be my wingman." He blushed. "Sorry about that one." Then he got serious again. "Not a word comes out of his mouth about another girl, unless its followed by something about you. I don't know what you've done to him this time, but if he carves your name into one more damned table, I'm going to have a meltdown and strangle you both."

"He does what?" Lily's eyes got really big, and her face was contorted with wonder.

"Whenever you upset him real bad, he carves your name into a table, and then destroys it. Makes one hell of a mess in the dorm, and a very difficult story to explain to the headmaster." He shook his head, eyes lowering to the floor.

"Anger issues much?" she reared her head back and crinkled her nose.

"Evans," he sighed, getting down, sitting on his heels right in front of her, eyes looking straight into her. "Lily," he breathed, clasping his hands in front of him. "There is nothing normal about anything he does. Every aspect of his life is strange. But, I don't blame him. Anyone would be messed up after being offered every girl he wanted, but denied the one girl that he needed."

And with that, Lily got up and went to find James.

She found him, sitting on a bench, alone in the courtyard. She went over smiling, took him by the hands, and pulled him up from his sullen slumping posture. She looked at the now standing James Potter, her eyes locked on his.

"If you ever ask me out again, I'll have to curse you. Just know that I'm yours, and you won't even have to ask." she whispered, as she brought her lips to his for the magical kiss they'd all been waiting for.

Sirius, Remus, and Peter, who had all been a short distance away, lifted their wands and let red sparks erupt from their wands, making the whole place light up. James pulled his lips away from Lily's just long enough to wrap his arms around her waist and look up at the celebration, but he couldn't help himself for long, before letting his soft lips meet hers for the second time, of many.
