Disclaimer: If I owned Morganville Vampires, I would be a better author than I am now. Clearly I don't.
AN: This one is dedicated to Vicky199416 who introduced me to the series. Although I haven't gotton past Bite club yet, I'm working on it. This story is set just before the series begins.
As night fell in Morganville and Micheal Glass became solid once more, Ada found herself pondering just why she had saved him.
True, she'd have felt guilty that he had been killed by a vampire while in one of her safe houses, but Micheal HAD invited said vampire in and HAD agreed to allow him to try and turn him. In her opinion, she had no real reason to save him the way she had. There had been others like Micheal who had died in safe houses because of such carelessness. She hadn't saved them, so why did she save him?
The sound of music playing through the house interrupted her musings and Ada stopped what she was doing to listen. Human music, especially the modern stuff was not really worth a toss in her opinion. Some of it was passable and she always made sure to listen to the latest releases, if for no other reason than she was curious. (Hacking into itunes was ridiculously easy for her) When you're a supercomputer with a vampire brain, it's very easy to be bored.
But there was something about Micheal's music that was special. If someone was to ask her what made it stand out, she couldn't say. It was hardly revolutionary by any means, but it touched Ada somewhere deep within her long-blacked soul. In fact, Ada mused, if it wasn't for the fact that I love Myrrin, I'd almost say that I was falling in love with Micheal through his music.
"Ada my dear," Myrrin said and Ada switched her attentions to her beloved, even if he didn't return those feelings. But as Myrrin made his latest request, Ada couldn't help thinking of Micheal and his beautiful music. Yes, he was worth saving, if only for that. His beautiful music. Because how could he love someone he didn't even know existed? But as she turned her attentions to Myrrin, another thought occurred to her. Was it really any better than loving someone who simply took you for granted instead?
