The night was bitter cold, in the distance you could hear the loud wail of a cat, while nearby a bush moved, a fox was carrying two figures in its mouth. A group appeared from the mist, just as the fox ran away, it had four cats and a soft whimpering she cat.

"My kits. The beast took my two kits." She whispered, still in shock.

A ginger she cat licked the other cats forehead, "It's okay Feather, my daughter, at least they don't have to suffer here anymore." She whispered in her ear when the others were talking.

Feather looked at her mother and sighed. "But he's gone, my perfect mate is gone, Talon is gone. He died trying to save us, I wish I went with them, Poppydawn, I really do." The grey she cat mewed sadly.

Poppydawn opened her mouth but she quickly closed it as she heard a small wail, barely audible. She thought it was coming from the bush, so as she walked towards it a black shape tumbled out.

Poppydawn then relaxed. "Feather! Come here quickly!" The black kit looked at the ginger cat and grey cat with red eyes, you could tell he's been crying.

"Can you please help my sister?" He mewed in the most saddest voice.

Feather looked down and her eyes softened. "What's wrong?"

The patrol was now looking their way. The black kit went back into the bush and Feather followed him in till her fur got caught in the thorns, she then realized it was a rose bush and they had thorns on the stems. She then could faintly see a small figure in the pale moonlight. There was a small she kit and she was caught in the thorns and she didn't look like she was breathing. Feather pushed through the thorns as they yanked her pelt and got to the kit and brought her out for Poppydawn to see her.

"Oh my. Poor little thing." Poppydawn whispered to herself as she started to pluck the thorns out of the she kit's body. "Feather can you get some cobwebs?" The ginger mewed to her daughter, the other kit was looking down at his sister.

"Will she be okay?" He asked Poppydawn.

"What's your name?" She asked trying to change the subject.

"My name is Raven, and my sister's name is Rose. I don't know where are mom is. She told us to wait by this rose bush, but then I heard a scary noise and I told Rose to go inside the bush. This is all my fault." Raven cried, but then Feather came back, she handed the cobwebs to her mother and she curled her fluffy tail around Raven.

"No it's not your fault. You saved your sister, a fox was the noise you heard. I'll take care of you now." The grey she cat mewed, and started to purr softly and soon Raven drifted off to sleep. The other two cats looked at the kit and one had a look of horror on her face.

"Feather, don't worry, I'll get rid of these pest." A brown she cat growled and held up a paw with her long claws glistening in the moonlight. But Poppydawn stood in front of the kits protectively.

"Clove, you will not hurt these kits, they will serve us good, I can see it." A dark black tom mewed, coming out of the shadows. Clove turned towards her leader and dipped her head.

"But Snake, they are extra mouths to feeds, they are -" She was cut off by Snakes growl.

"I already lost my son and grand kits, these kits will stay with us, the big one will be trained as a Fighter, while I have something special for the she kit." Snake mewed, he then picked up Rose and Feather grabbed Raven, while her mother leaned on her shoulder, as the mist swallowed them.
