Getting Draco's Permission By HPFangirl71

Draco Malfoy and Rose Weasley walked side by side through the London streets. Trees adorned the sidewalk and colorful lights adorned the branches where once there were green leaves. Draco felt uncomfortable walking with her, but he'd promised Scorpius he'd talk to her. Actually, his son's exact request was for him to get to know her… Why on earth, he'd want to get to know a Weasley was beyond him. Scorpius though was somehow smitten with the girl.

"So Rose… Scorpius tells me you're top of the class at Hogwarts."

"Well Scorpius does seem to brag… I study a lot is all. I guess I get my love of books and learning from my mother."

"Would seem so… especially since your father certainly didn't pass that gene along to you."

"You didn't like my father much, did you Mr. Malfoy?"

Her question was more of a statement and Draco shifted uncomfortably. He motioned for them to sit on a nearby bench.

"You have to understand that things were very difficult between the Weasleys and the Malfoys when I went to school with your father. My own father had an opinion of the family that was rather demeaning. He passed down many of his opinions and prejudices to me. I accepted them without question because I looked up to him."

"You didn't have to. Scorpius doesn't."

"Yes well… Scorpius seems to have a great deal of his mother's qualities. I also think that his love for you sometimes clouds his judgment."

Rose blushed when he mentioned Scorpius' love for her. She was entirely smitten by the blonde haired boy.

"Just because he chooses not to share your beliefs about the muggleborn doesn't mean his judgment is clouded."

Draco looked at the girl, he could definitely see why Scorpius was so taken with her. From the Weasley side she'd gotten the fiery red hair, but it was curly like Granger's. She was definitely a pretty little thing, if only she weren't part muggleborn.

"I hate to say this Rose, but I actually think I like you. I'll consent to you and Scorpius dating as long as we're all on the same page."

"What page would that be, sir."

"For one, stop calling me Sir… it makes me feel old, Draco will be fine. For another, don't go expecting that just cause I've accepted you that I'll do the same for that family you come from. Also, don't you go springing any marriage proposals on me anytime too soon. I still need time to get used to this."

Rose's face lit up in a smile that was brighter than the Christmas lights on the trees. She seemed overjoyed at Draco's consent.

"Oh Thank you, sir… I mean Draco… sorry. Scorpius will be glad to hear that you've finally decided to let down your defenses and face the inevitable."

"He said that? Spoken like a true Malfoy… maybe there's hope for that boy after all…"
