It was late at night, and everyone had just finished their work for the day, heading off to their rooms. I was just about to go into my room, when I heard someone behind me.
"Hello, my Wanderer." He whispered. I could feel his warm breath on my neck. My heart skipped a beat. I loved it when he called me that. The words flowed perfectly and beautifully together.
"Ian." I whispered back, slowly turning around to face him in the dim light. He looked at me with his striking blue eyes. I tried to suppress a giggle, but failed. My face turned a vibrant shade of scarlet. I still couldn't control the random outbursts of giggles that Pet's body, my body, would often produce when Ian was around.
"I love your laugh. I missed you today." He said quietly.
"I was with you almost the whole day, Ian." I told him incredulously in a low, breathy voice.
"I know. But I missed being this close to you." He breathed, as he leaned in...
Ouch. My head throbbed. I wondered what happened. The sun and its warmth enveloped me. Was it sand that I was lying on? My fingers grazed the gritty surface of the ground. Where was I? Where was everyone? We were just carrying out a routine raid... nothing out of the ordinary. I knew that something went wrong, but I couldn't remember the answer. My mind was overflowing with questions. I opened my eyes just enough to take in my surroundings. I was definitely lying on the ground close to the entrance of the caves, but I was far enough away to not give away the location. What happened here? I could see Jared, Melanie, Kyle, and a few of the other raiders. The strange thing was everyone was still knocked out, except me. Why did they look like they had gone through a fight? I sat up. My bones were stiff. I put my hand up to where my head was throbbing. My hand quickly became moist. The spot was fiercely stinging. I pulled my hand down to my face to inspect it. My hand was covered in blood. I looked around and did a head count for those who went on the raid. My heart beat quickly. I stopped breathing, terrified at my realization. I noticed there was only one person missing – Ian.
