Sitting x Next To x You
A little poem based on Hisagon. Middle school AU edition.
As I presented myself to my new classmates, I walked to my new desk
Someone had tripped me, as they mocked me, kicking with hurtful intention.
But you held out your hand
And you said your name was Hisoka,
Thus, I introduced myself as Gon,
So I was sitting next to you.
We talked a lot like birds in a tree
And sat by each other at lunch
Though a lot of people were gossiping
You heeded no attention to them.
A cold, icy glare you gave set them straight.
And so I was sitting next to you.
I noticed that you seemed down a lot
And it made me feel burdened as well
But you told me that you were fine, to stop bothering you
I did as told, still sitting next to you.
You were gone one day and I didn't know why
So I searched across the whole school
I ran up to the roof and saw you standing over the tip's edge.
I lunged as fast as I could but you put up a hand.
You said it was better that you were gone so I could live a better life
But I told you that was not true
I almost told you I loved you
Alas, I should've said it,
Because you fell from my reach.
Now I'm sitting all alone in the back of the classroom
While everyone snickers at me
I look across at where you sat,
Remembering when I was sitting next to you.
