She had a room overlooking a parking garage. One of her favorite pastimes was to count the different colors the cars sported each day. They were mostly dull colors, but occasionally she could see bright ones. They were the most fun to see, sometimes they had special designs and patterns, things she had always wanted to draw, but never got around to. She couldn't draw much anymore either, with the tubes hooked up to her arms, and it hurt to move them much anyways. The cars were nice to look at, but it eventually got tiresome.

Her life there became more exciting when the staff brought her a gift, a small video player. The kind lady had asked what kinds of show she liked, and the girl smiled. She told the woman of a program she had seen once, but she had never seen the end of it. A fantasy story, with powerful people and children moving aspects of the world, with amazing creatures and exciting stories. They lady came back one day with a collection of colorful discs, and artwork from the show. She happily watched the videos, until the very end, and smiled when it was over. It was a nice, hopeful ending. She had grew to know that those didn't happen often in real life, and treasured the memories she had of the happy things.

It became hard to breathe eventually, but she was content. She knew already that people leave, and it couldn't be stopped. The people bustled around her, some shouting, but others calmly urging her to stay. But she didn't want to anymore, it hurt too much, and it was nice to sleep. Just dreaming of places to go, people to meet and dance with. She found herself drifting in the dark, but it wasn't scary. There was still light, she could see it clearly. The dragon was there, looking at her with its beautiful eyes. It used a whisker to touch her hand, and she could hear it speak.

"Do you wish to run again? To be alive, and dance?"

She nodded slightly, feeling quite tired.

"I can give you that freedom."

She smiled, and fell again.
