The echoing of steps down the narrow alley sent chilling feelings up Raine's spine with each noise. Despite that, the silver hedgehog tried to focus on them, hoping to drown out the furious voice of the robot that followed her. "Why Raine!? You idiot copy! You had the perfect chance to take him down right then and there!" He shouted at her, "I think he went too far with the 'Opposite of Shadow' thing. Why couldn't you have failed like all the other attempts?! You're too much like that creature to be his opposite!" All the put-downs filled Raine's heart and mind. She tried to fight them with her own words, but her mouth wouldn't move. Raine closed her hand around the gun she still held.
A sudden booming sounded behind Raine, making her turn to see Triple-A's hand embedded into a wall. "Don't you see Raine? If that idiot hedgehog was gone, you and I would be the Ultimate Lifeforms! Nothing would stop us in our reign." He raised his hand and clenched it in the air, as if he were grabbing something out of reach. "You mean your reign..." escaped a hoarse voice from Raine's mouth, "You would take me down, its easy to see, Triple-A." Blinking sadly at her dark, metallic friend, she turned her face. A swift cold hand placed itself on Raine's shoulder, making her stand straight. "You honestly feel I would do that to you my friend..." Triple-A whispered to her. Raine shrugged off the robot's touch, and took a few steps forward. "Yes, I feel that way. And.." Raine sternly turned to the Shadow Robot, "I am not your friend."
A furious shade of red covered the robot's eyes. He thrust forward his fist straight into Raine's face, knocking the hedgehog back on the ground and causing her to drop her gun to the side. The pain that shocked her face reminded Raine that Triple-A had a Chaos Emerald, for she normally would be able to hold her own to that punch. Her eyes opened fast to see Triple-A stand in front of her, his hand reaching swiftly down to grasp her throat. He did this and held her high above his head, "You don't know how right you are, Corrupted one." he hissed. As if she were but a toy, Triple-A flew her across the alleyway. The beaten Raine hit a wall with a thud, blood escaping from her mouth. 'I...can't....die here!' She shouted in her mind.
A sudden adrenalin flew through her body and sent her running for her gun. Seeing through her new found strength, Triple-A fires a gun transformed from his arm between Raine's outstretched arm and her weapon of choice. Some of the bullets hit Raine's arm, but it didn't keep her from getting to her help. Shaking with pain, the silver hedgehog held the gun in place in both her hands, pulling the trigger just as Triple-A launched another bullet. Passing swiftly by each other like argued friends, each bullet ran to the other side of the alley. Raine leaned her head to the left, and the round missed her face. However, the shot she fired went all the way through to its target's face. It shot through the circuit board and launched through to the other side, splitting the metal on both ends.
The robot fell backward and landed like a tin can on the ground, not responding to anything anymore. His chest opened up to reviled an container holding a red Chaos Emerald. Breathing for a bit, Raine remembered her glitch was still working itself for her death. Slowly, she got up and stole the Emerald, leaving Triple-A's hollow body to be picked up as garbage. Looking out to the alley's end, Raine picked up herself and made her way to the GUN base, thinking only about making it there, not of what was going to happen or of what she had done.
