Minerva's Note: This is only 500 words. I wanted to make it longer SOO badly, but the challenge on BlackLupin was to write 150-500 words. We all had to begin our drabble/ficlet with the same six words "Sirius opened his eyes to see" and submit it anonymously to discover if we could guess who wrote which ficlet.
As a result, this is short even though the pups were begging me to include more banter and smut. I hope you lovely readers enjoy it in spite of its length. I wonder if you all would've been able to guess that it was mine?
Sirius' Woman
Sirius opened his eyes to see Remus beside him. That wasn't unusual. It was strange for the werewolf to be fully-clothed and regarding something seemingly amusing beyond Sirius. Sirius sat up on the settee he'd rested upon to learn what his lover found more interesting than himself, and witnessed Peter and James having an argument.
Observing them sparked his sleep-fogged brain's memory. The Marauders had gathered for drinking, poker playing, and other manly things at the house Sirius and Remus shared. After supper they'd lounged around Moony's Muggle television to watch a video. Because the film had been Peter's choice, Sirius had fallen asleep swiftly.
However, the show had ended and a familiar debate was taking place that, like Remus, provided Sirius with entertainment.
"But they do need birds," Peter insisted to James. "You have Lily and I've got Rochelle. What about them? Moony's ridiculous and refuses to date 'cause of the wolf, but what about Padfoot?"
"They're happy with the way things are," James declared firmly, but not harshly; he knew Peter meant well.
They all knew that, which is probably why Remus decided to stop the mild disagreement ere James inadvertently hurt Peter's feelings. Wormtail's obliviousness wasn't his own fault. Sirius would've happily watched James fumble for excuses a few moments more. Remus was considerate.
Another reason to love him, Sirius thought fondly.
"Sirius has a woman. Her name is Melody," Remus calmly claimed and winked at Sirius, who understood immediately.
"Yeah; the sounds she makes are music to my ears," he added, smirking.
Peter looked pleased, but confused. "Great! How come I've never seen her?"
"You have," Sirius assured. "She's the one that shines so beautifully she makes other blokes stare in envy."
Peter was doubtful. "I think I'd remember someone like that."
James caught on. "You've met her. You even commented on how fast she moves."
"Are you sure?" The bewildered rat scratched his head. "Was I drunk at the time?"
"No." Sirius rolled his eyes and stood. "C'mon, I'll introduce you again." He headed towards the garage.
They all followed and Peter inquired, "What's she doing in there?"
Sirius didn't answer. Instead, he flicked a switch when they entered. The garage's Muggle lights illuminated a silver and black motorcycle balanced on a pedestal beside a bottle of polish.
"Your BIKE is your woman?" Peter's incredulousness made James and Remus exchange amused glances.
Sirius nodded proudly. "Melody's the perfect girl. She goes where I want whenever I want. She's easy to turn on and always up for a ride. She even lets other people ride her with me! She never asks for anything except to be filled up with liquid to make her move."
Prongs laughed aloud this time.
Peter shook his head. "You're hopeless. I'm going home."
At Sirius' less-than-subtle cough, James announced, "Me, too."
Once they Disapparated Sirius embraced Remus. "Finally alone."
"Except for Melody," he chortled.
Sirius turned the key and straddled the vibrating bike backwards, legs spread for Remus. "We'll include her."
