I scraped my hair back into a loose ponytail and took a deep breath before entering the office
"Uh hello" I said to the back of the man at the front desk "I'm Alexi, I'm moving in to flat 229 today?" The chair turned round and I was greeted by a short but pleasant looking man in thick rimmed glasses
"Ah yes " the man replied casting a look at me " Well here's your room key, post boxes are down the hall I'm the building manager Steve, numbers on the office door if anything goes wrong" he said handing me a small key. I nodded thanks and left to go see my new room. It never was my idea to move to a flat in London, the country was more my scene, but a jobs a job and it's not like I had anything to lose by moving here.
The flat itself was spacious and light and the removal men had my stuff here by noon. I had just finished unpacking the first box which consisted of my speakers, stereo, tv and impressive collection of gaming platforms when a knock on the door roused me. Remembering I was in central London I put the chain on before cracking open my door. Outside two tall boys stood rather awkwardly, one was pale and had black swishy hair, the other was slightly more tanned and had stylish brown hair and warm brown eyes, I thought I recognised them from somewhere but couldn't place it. I shut the door and unchained it to talk to them properly
"Hi" I said "I'm Alexi"
"I'm Phil and this is Dan, we live downstairs" the pale one, Phil said
"Hey" Dan added and suddenly it clicked where I knew them from
"Oh your Danisnotonfire and Amazingphil aren't you? My friend is really into that YouTube stuff" I explained seeing the look of apprehension on their faces.
"Oh cool, wait is that a NES?" Dan asked looking over my shoulder (an easy feet considering I was only 5'5)
"Oh yeah I'm a bit of a game nerd, bit of an everything nerd really, anime, marvel, dc, tv shows ... ah sorry I'm rambling a bit" I blushed
"No its fine, I have a feeling we're gonna be great friends" Dan chuckled
"Dan you can't just make friends with people for video games" Phil chastised
"I don't mind, feel free to come round and play anytime you want, I bet I can beat both your asses in Mario Kart " I winked and they both laughed
"We'll have to see about that, sounds like a challenge doesn't it Phil?" Dan said, Phil nodded his head.
"I'm a pro at Mario kart" Phil retorted
"Prove it" I laughed gesturing over my shoulder, they looked at each other shrugged nd follewed me into my apartment.
