A short response to Lisas Country Music Challenge on RWE. Luv ya, Babe! ;)
Still dont own them!
I was sitting at a table in the back of the bar, Lula to my right, Connie to my left, and Mary Lou across from me with her back to the dance floor. I should probably have stopped after my first drink, but here I was three mojitos later, laughing at their disgust on my behalf.
"I cant believe that lyin' SOB thought you'd just fall on your knees and beg him to come back." Lula took another swig of her beer and snorted in disgust.
"I'm with Lula; did he seriously think that you'd be interested in staying with a cheater?" Connie slurred just a little, I think she might be an even bigger light weight than me.
"Of course he did, girls." Mary Lou was stone sober and looked ready to shoot first and ask questions later. "He's just like all the other Morelli men. Gods gift to women and able to sweet talk their way out of anything. You'd think he'd have learned from his nephew's mistake, but then again, he is a Morelli."
We all laughed at that, how true it was. "You know, I should have known better too. I mean who says yes to a date from a guy they'd warned all the other girls away from in high school? I was the one that told Frannie Lazar that he was only after one thing; not that she listened, mind you."
The girls all started making noise at once.
"But you'd think after all these years he'd have grown up!"
"How were you supposed to know he'd shack up with that hussy?"
"Don't you go taking any of the blame in this; he was in the wrong, not you!"
I sighed, offering a one shouldered shrug. "I know, seriously though. I still cant believe it was Norma Szajack. She's got to be around 60; her son went to school with Joe. Its just sick."
They all cringed, thinking about the logistics, I'm sure. I smiled when my mojito was slid out of my grasp and Stephanie plopped down in the last open seat at the table with her back to the wall. "Your'e lucky we decided to come out for drinks tonight, Grandma. I just talked to Dad; he says mom's been answering the phone all night hoping it was you only to have to fend off more questions. Truth be told, he sounded like he was laughing."
I hugged her tightly for a moment. "Thanks, Baby granddaughter. I figured she'd be asleep by now what with all the tippling. I still don't understand how I raise such a prude for a daughter."
The girls all laughed and then Stephanie turned her attention back to me. "So tell me again how you happened onto Serjie Morelli and Norma Szajack? And isn't he old enough to be her father? Wait, never mind, I don't think I want to know. I do want to know what you were thinking dating Serjie, hes just like Joe."
I winked to the other girls. "I was just getting to that. I assume I was thinking the same thing you were about Joe until last month. You know girls, they say a lot of things about Morelli men, but the one thing I know for sure is true, at least about Serjie: they're all hung like a horse."
I cackled as they all made gagging faces, guess they were sorry they asked...
