A Single Man
I am a Single Man,
And Death will become my closest friend.
Gun shall become my Companion,
Or maybe Venom shall overthrow him.
Perhaps I will make a friend in Blessed Rope,
A friend to many.
Heartbreak may overcome me,
Knives may stab me,
But none of it matters.
There is nothing left
If he does not love me .
He is positively enamoured with the Devil,
And I am discarded to the Dogs.
Luck has brought us together.
I fear that Love is what shall tear us apart.
I thought I found the Missing Piece.
Perhaps, I was Complete,
And He has taken a piece of me Away.
I am a Single Man.
I wrote this poem in the eyes of Basil Hallward, who was secretly in love with Dorian Gray. The title is taken from Christopher Isherwood's novel A Single Man. The story inspired me to write this, because the story revolves around a depressed and homosexual British man that plans to commit suicide in the wake of his lover's death.
