This takes place, Season 2 somewhere after Girl in the Fireplace, when Mickey's on board!

Rose lie in her bed at night, tossing and turning. It didn't have anything to do with her comfort, no, the TARDIS' beds were some of the most comfortable in the universe, the Doctor had insisted it only so. And it didn't have to do with any physical pain…or hardly mental pain, really. It was simply…thinking too much. Rose was thinking too much.

Things could not possibly be any worse.

She didn't particularly like having two men on board with her. Especially the one she was supposed to love…vs. the one she did love. Frankly, it was all a bit stressful. She was trying to like poor Mickey! She really was! But everything he did seemed to pale in comparison to her wonderful Doctor…well, wouldn't anyone? This was not well thought out.

So, after a long long night of staring at the ceiling and thinking too much, Rose pulled herself drudgingly out of bed and began her long walk down one of the TARDIS' many corridors. Her bare-feet slid silently over the smooth floors as she followed the sound of dull, low voices as they echoed off the walls.

She was gonna have to do it – she was gonna have to tell the Doctor. And Mickey too…oh poor poor Mickey…She was gonna have to tell them that she couldn't take this anymore. She couldn't take the confusion and the constant back and forth guilt. She practiced saying the words in her head – We have to take Mickey home, I don't love you anymore…I'm so so sorry…

Continuing to follow the voices, Rose found herself outside a bookcase. Which wasn't all that strange really. The Doctor thought it would be an awful good joke to hide the library behind a "secret passageway" which actually was just a fake bookcase with glued in cardboard books and a doorknob. The Doctor insisted though, and Rose wasn't sure the TARDIS would even change it if he wanted her to.

From the other side of the bookcase, Rose could hear low mumbling, as if really wishing not to be heard. That was strange…Rose couldn't help but notice…she had no idea that the Doctor and Mickey actually ever talked like…friends…or something like that. She leaned her ear against the dark oak threshold and listened carefully. With no audible words coming through, she simply knocked.

The library on the other side of the door abruptly fell silent.

A pause.

Then a nervous, "Come in, Rose."

Rose turned the handle and swung open the secret passage.

What the two men on the other side found themselves looking at was a very frowzy Rose – still in her baggy shirt and sweatpants she slept in, and her hair sticking up at unnatural angles…but Rose was way more shocked at what she saw in front of her.

The Doctor and Mickey…had their arms around each other.

"Boys?"

"Rose…the Doctor and I have been talking,"

Her already gaping jaw not really moving, "Ah, yeah?"

The boys smiled at each other before turning to Rose and saying cheerfully, "We're together."

Rose awoke from her dream breathless and almost crying.

Ok, so maybe things could be worse.

My two friends and I came up with this random bit of story whilst role playing! I was Rose, and they were playing the Doctor and Mickey. Credit goes to Maria for coming up with the idea and Sam for going along with it!

Would love some reviews!
