The Path Home

Stray, so far from home; thou hast lost thy way
Long years pass; but memories remain
Broken heart cries out, thou buriest the pain
Until a voice calls; beckoning thee home again.

Thy path is set; how canst thou dare
travel alone without thought or care
for it is fraught with darkness, danger and grief
and the knowledge of what awaits thee there

Undaunted, thou steel'st thyself and follow the path
Held in thy heart, never truly lost; but found at last
Make haste now, for time is brief
Pray the hour does not come to pass

Thou hast arrived home, but far too late
The house stands still, cold and dark
There is no one to greet thee at the gate
Except the Spectre who hast come to take thy heart

Thou curse thyself for time wasted
All because thou hesitated.
Spectre, thou who'st cold hand grasps thy soul
Thou hast finally come to take thy Stray home.
