Wally was killing Artemis. Well, he was actually just shooting her avatar with a machine gun as they were swarmed by zombies, but hey, all's fair in love, war, and video games. Not, Wally reminded himself, that he knew anything about love. His love life was worse than Rob's, and Rob didn't even have one. For example, Artemis, whom he had been using all his charm to win over, had just dropped her controller in favor of beating Wally with nearby objects. He was getting beat up by a girl. Definitely not the highpoint of his day. Artemis twisted his arm until he yelped, and moving was impossible so he'd lost his advantage.
"Rob!" He yelled. "A little help in here, man?"
Robin sighed, guessing correctly that Artemis probably had Wally in a stranglehold right now and was preparing another one of her comments on exactly how she was planning to kill Wally and telling him how annoying she found him, etc...
Robin took a second then entered the room before Wally could be injured by the blond haired girl who barely came up to his shoulder. He pushed open the door. And stopped, frozen by fear. IT was dangling just above Wally's head.
Wally glanced up when Robin came in, ready to greet his savior and save his manly pride by then insisting he could have handled it without the help of the thirteen year old hacker/acrobat. When Wally met Robin's eyes, however, he knew there was something very, very wrong.
Robin was paler than Wally had ever seen him and his face sported a unfamiliar look, a look of... fear? It was true. Batman's apprentice looked scared. Artemis must have noticed it, too, because the restrictive arm around Wally's neck was suddenly gone.
The two of them stared at Robin as he launched himself at Wally, stumbling and lurching like the zombies in the video games, screaming Wally's name, sounding horrified. Suddenly, his fist flew out and Wally ducked, Robin's hand missing his head by inches.
"What the...?"
Robin flew around the room in a series of acrobatic leaps and twirls attacking an invisible assailant. A smoke bomb from Robin's utility belt went off and they could hear cursing.
"Whoa." Artemis muttered appreciatively. "The kid of steel has finally broken. I wonder if he'll be more fun now that he's no longer outsane...?"
Suddenly Robin screeched to a halt from a speed even surprising Wally. "He's dead." Robin growled, swaying on his feet like he was about to pass out, his normally pale skin almost translucent.
Wally stared, perplexed. "Are we under attack?" Robin ignored the question.
"My archnemesis is finally dead. No more living in mortal fear as I check under my bed for him each night..."
"Wait," Artemis said. "Let me get this straight: your mortal enemy is the boogey man?"
Wally rounded on Artemis, arguing again. "He obviously means Chuck Nor..."
"No!" Robin sounded affronted. He wiped the cold sweat off his brow and struggled to stop shaking. He threw something at her. She shrieked as Wally caught it before it hit her face.
"I saved you, Wally, I faced my fear for..."
"A spider?" Wally gasped, fighting off laughter looking at the tiny half-inch spider lying dead in his hand. "The fierce Dark Knight of Gotham City's apprentice, defeater of the dark forces of evil who inspires fear in his enemies' hearts... is afraid of spiders?"
Robin just stared warily at the tiny creature, as if waiting for it to rise again.
