Lily Evans had just said goodbye to her parents and was still a little hurt by what her sister had said to her. It was simply unfair that Petunia had reacted like that; after all, it wasn't Lily's own fault. She gave a sigh and walked through the train looking for an empty compartment. She had just finished putting away her trolley, when a girl entered her cabin. She was still carrying along her trunk. Her brown and curly hair hang around her small, but pretty face and a pair of dark brown eyes looked at Lily. When Lily turned to face her, the girl became slightly pink, as if she was shy.

'Hello,' Lily said friendly.

'Hello. Is it all right if I join you?' the girl asked quietly.

'Sure,' Lily replied.

While the brown-haired girl put away her own trunk, Lily kept looking at her. The girl looked around her own age and it was probably her first year too she guessed. Once she had finished, the girl sat down opposite of Lily, who now turned to look outside, and stared down at her knees. After a few minutes of silence, Lily decided to break the silence.

'So who are you? My name is Lily Evans and it is my first year here at Hogwarts.'

The girl looked up and a smile appeared on her face. She suddenly seemed a lot less shy.

'My name is Amber Weathertop. It's my first year too. Are your parents – you know – have they been to Hogwarts as well?' Amber asked eagerly.

'No, my mum and dad are just ordinary people. I'm the first witch in the family,' Lily answered.

'Me too, I never knew that everything I did was magic. I guess Hogwarts is absolutely amazing. I can't to see it,' Amber said.

Lily nodded and the subject about how everything at Hogwarts would be took them closer towards it. It was already so late that it was getting dark, when a boy entered their compartment. Lily turned around to see who had come in. The boy had messy black hair and looked no older than them.

'Yes, what is it?' Lily asked annoyed for somehow she didn't like his appearance at all.

The boy stared at Lily and didn't look at Amber at all. He just stood in the doorway grinning all the time. He seemed to have lost his ability to speak, but finally he answered.

'I just wanted to say hello. By the way, my name is James Potter.'

'Well, hello to you then. My name is Lily Evans and goodbye again,' Lily replied.

'Just one question…'

Lily waited for the question. Now Amber was also staring at her.

'You know leave it, I'll ask it later. See you around, Evans,' James finished and walked away.

'What was that all about?' Lily asked turning towards Amber, who started giggling. 'What's so funny?'

'You know what, Lily? I think he likes you. Didn't you see the way he was staring at you, I think he's in love,' Amber answered now laughing.

'No way! Never would I like him or he me. Trust me he would be the last person on earth, who I would go out with,' Lily said with her voice full of dislike.

'All right, fine with me. Still I think you will get to see him more often than you think.'

Lily shrugged and saw lights coming closer to the train.

'Look Amber! We are nearly there!' Lily nearly shouted filled with excitement.

Amber also pressed her nose against the window to get her first glimpse of Hogwarts and for a short while, the subject of James Potter had been forgotten.
