"Um, excuse me?"
Tamaki turned around to see a girl with long blonde hair and sparkling green eyes, wearing a plain white dress. She was looking at him with a sad look in her eyes.
"What can I do for you, my dear princess?" he asked, bowing with a smile.
"Oh… I – I just wanted to thank you," she said, lowering her head slightly.
Tamaki raised his head, frowning in confusion.
"What for?"
The girl looked up. "You always smiled and said 'hi' to me when I passed by you and your friends on my way home, and that meant a lot to me, 'cause I don't really have any friends. People tend not to notice me. So, thank you, Tamaki Suoh. Your kindness shall never be forgotten. Thank you, and good bye."
She smiled as she pressed something into his hand before turning away. Tamaki swore that he saw white wings on her back as she disappeared in a flash of light.
Tamaki jolted upright into a sitting position, and realized that he was in his bed.
"Was it just a dream?" he wondered aloud, rubbing his eyes. He then noticed a small object in his hand, so he opened his hand to see what it was. He found a small blue stone, engraved with an image of an angel. He turned it over to see words inscribed on the back:
'Thank you for being my guardian angel.'
Feeling terribly confused and suddenly sleepy, he lay back down and fell back asleep.
The next morning, Tamaki opened the morning paper, only to see a picture of the girl from his dream staring back at him. He now remembered having seen her several times while hanging out with the host club after school. Looking at the article next to the picture, he was shocked to find that she had died the previous evening, not long before he had seen her in his dream.
From that day on, he always had that stone in his pocket, to remind him that ever kind deed, no matter how small, meant the world to someone else.
And though he may not have known it, she would forevermore watch over him, as his guardian angel.
AN: This story was written for one of my closest friends as a birthday present, seeing as it is her birthday today. It's meant to show how I think of her, because when we first met, our relationship was like that of the girl and Tamaki before she died. I always thought of her as my guardian angel. And now that I am back on my feet again, and we are closer friends, I am doing my best to be hers.
Anyway, thanks for reading! Reviews would be nice, since I don't really know if my writing is any good.
