Today's the day. Hollie Olliver thought, hands buried in her pockets. Looking down, she strolled through the crowd of people rushing about their lives. A few took a double glance at her hair. It was short and spiky, a rather dull and lackluster dark brown. Its only unusual quality was that it stood out against the wind and ignored the downward pull of Earth's gravity.
It obeyed the will of an entirely different object.
And here we are. Hollie stared up at the big bold letters embossed in the gold plate. STEEL CITY FIRST NATIONAL BANK. Twisting to look over her shoulder, the teen pushed through the revolving doors and into the bank. People from all walks of life milled about. The fat business man in an expensive tailored suit serenely signed a fat check, then handed it to a nervous employee. Must be the guys first day. Pity. A ratty looking man stared forlornly at his empty wallet. Today, they weren't the upper and lower class citizens. Today they were witnesses to the introduction of Event Horizon.
Furtively, Hollie edged towards the security officer standing in front of the vault. Small, translucent, multicolored sparks bounced off of the portly man's shoe as soon as he was within her gravitational field.
Here goes nothing.
The Titans East lounged in the living area of their tower. Bumblebee fanned herself, trying to ignore the boys arguing over something trivial. Suddenly, the room started to flash red.
"Trouble at the 'First National, come on, let's go!" Aqualad shouted.
They had no idea what might await them.
"Haha! This is way too easy," Event Horizon hovered in the center of the bank; desks, bags of money, potted plants, and a handful of quarters orbited her rapidly, striking civilians at random. The door behind her burst open.
Right on time.
"Stop right there, thief!" Bumblebee ordered. She flew into the air and hovered above her teammates. Her attention was on the girl in the ripped denim half vest levitating in front of her.
"Nah," came the short reply as a rather finely crafted desk flew at the Titans. Speedy ducked under, whipping out his bow and firing three concussion arrows. Almost as soon as they were fired, they were caught in Event's orbit. At a blinding speed. They slingshotted around her and straight at Aqualad, knocking him back into the wall and unconscious. Bumblebee zipped around the flying debris in her small form, getting as close to her foe as possible without being caught in orbit. Gripping her stingers, she shot two tiny rays of electricity. They bit into the thief's neck, causing her to clamp a tan hand over the area.
"You're grounded!" The thief shouted, pointing her palm at Bumblebee, who immediately crashed into the ground.
Mas y Menos charged her, only to be flung away into separate walls. Each twin slumped over, snoring loudly.
"And then there was one,"
Speedy jumped off the floor, readying an arrow. He managed to get past the flying debris and within range of his target. Just as he was about to release the arrow, the girl threw a punch. Small iridescent sparks flew from her fist as it made contact with his face.
Speedy was knocked into a wall. And through it. And another, and another. His vision began to dim. He could barely make out the figure before him. It took a few seconds to realize that the person was speaking.
"... remember the name: Event Horizon."
