Well, it's offical. I'm a Brony now. This is my first MLP fic, so be nice.

"Cutie mark Crusaders! Unite!", said Apple Bloom.

"We're right here", said Scootaloo.

"Yeah. Ya don't have to yell", said Sweetie Belle.

"Sorry", said Apple Bloom, "What should we try to get our cutie marks next?"

"Hmmm. We've asked almost everypony in town how they got theirs", said Sweetie Belle, "who should we ask next?"

"I know", said Scootaloo, "why don't we ask Big Macintosh?"

"But he's a boy", said Sweetie Belle, "he probably did something gross like eat bugs or roll in mud." She shuttered at the thought.

"Great idea girls", said Apple Bloom, "First, we'll ask Big Mac what he did to get his, then we'll try rolling in mud and eating bugs, then later rolling in bugs and eating mud."

"Great", said Scootaloo.

"I didn't say we should try that stuff!", said Sweetie Belle.

"Well, we're doing it", said Scootaloo, "Let's go!"

They ran out of the room to find Big Macintosh.

They found him pulling a plow through a field, getting ready to plant corn.

"Big Macintosh!", hollered Apple Bloom as they ran over to him from the unplowed side of the field.

"Howdy girls!", Big Mac hollered back, "Y'all get yer cutie marks yet?"

They came to a stop near him. Sweetie Belle shook her head and said, "no. Not yet."

"That's kinda why we came out here", said Scootaloo.

"We wanted to ask you how you got yours", said Apple Bloom.

Big Mac kept pulling the plow and said, "Walk with me. I can't stop."

The girls walked alongside him, listening intently.

"Well", said Big Mac, "I guess it goes back to when I was a little colt. Not much older then yourselves. I searched

high and low to find my special talent. I was just about ready to give up all hope of ever getting mine. I woke up the next morning, and I sadly started my chores. Pa, God rest his soul, told me he thought I was ready to pull the plow. I sadly got ready to start. Pa hooked me to the plow and I pulled with all my might. I quickly began to realize that this was my special talent. I was born to work hard. At the end of that row, I looked at my flank and was overjoyed to see my cutie mark had appeared."

"That's really how you got your cutie mark?", asked Scootaloo.

"Eeyup", said Big Macintosh.

"Well girls", said Apple Bloom, rolling up her invisable sleeves, "Looks like we're gonna try pullin' the plow."

"Oh no, yer not", said Big Mac, "Sorry girls, but you're still too young to pull the plow. I started when I did cuz I was big for my age."

"But we want our cutie marks now!", protested Sweetie Belle.

"I understand that", said Big Mac, "But I can't let you do something that you're not big enough to do yet. Besides, I strongly doubt that plowin' will be any of your special talents. Maybe Apple Bloom, but not Scootaloo or Sweetie Belle. Honestly, when was the last time you saw a unicorn or a pegasus pulling a plow?"

They were all silent.

"That was what I thought", said Big Mac. They reached the end of the field and he was turning around.

"Thanks, Big Brother", said Apple Bloom.

"You're welcome, Apple Bloom", said Big Mac, "Now why don't you three try something you already enjoy? Have you tried that?"

"We did", said Scootaloo, "but nothing came of it."

"Well, keep at it", said Big Mac, "It's kinda like fishin'. Just keep throwin' the ol' worm out there and you'll catch that big one."

"That's one we didn't try", said Scootaloo, "fishing!"

"Thanks, Big Macintosh", the girls said in unison as they ran off to get fishing supplies.

"Good luck, girls!", Big Mac hollered after them. He shook his head as he continued pulling the plow and said, "It's gonna be a short fishing trip."
