Hello there friends! I was at a baseball game, and suddenly had the urge to write about what would happen if the Fairy Tail characters decided to go to one. I'm not sure how many chapters this will take, but my current estimate is roughly five or six.
Have fun reading!
Night Before
Erza smiled happily as she leaned back in the armchair. An empty plate was sitting on the coffee table, along with a few others with varying amounts of strawberry shortcake. It was late at night, and a large portion of the Tenrou group was sitting in the shared room of their dorm. A blue haired mage, lounging on a bench, opened one eye and asked, for the umpteenth time that night,
"Are you sure it's okay for me to be here?" Erza sighed.
"Jellal, like I said before, we are allowed to invite anyone we want." Her voice dripped with annoyance. Jellal winced and closed his eye. Erza glanced around. Her dorm mates watched the exchange, but the fun had faded after the third time. Lucy, curled up on the couch between Gray and Gajeel, frowned.
"There's got to be something fun we can do Saturday evening." Gajeel slowly raised a hand, trying not to wake Levy, who had fallen asleep on his lap.
"We could go to the bar," he suggested. Gray spoke up from his position, squished between Lucy and the end of the couch, legs pulled up to avoid hitting Lisanna's head.
"Are there any bars left we haven't been kicked out of?" he asked.
"And whose fault was that?" she snorted. Gray pointed at her lap. More specifically, he pointed straight at Natsu's head. His hot-tempered friend glared.
"She wasn't talking about me!" he snapped. Gray shrugged.
"She's biased. And anyway—"
"What about a baseball game?" Jellal spoke without opening his eyes. The dorm went silent. They all sat there for a moment. Then—
"What?" The question came from seven mouths at once. Jellal shrugged, silently praying they weren't about to kill him.
"Well, the Magnolia Magicians are playing…" He trailed off.
"That's brilliant!"
"How come I never thought of that?"
"Because you're an idiot who doesn't use his brain."
"Stop insulting Natsu, it's not his fault."
"Gray does have a point."
"What do you mean by that?"
"She means I'm right."
"Stop twisting Erza's words, Gray."
"And stop implying Natsu is an idiot!"
"Oh, I'm doing more than implying." The argument would have turned into a full-blown shouting match, if not for Gajeel.
"Shut up!" Though his voice was quiet, it was intense. Everyone looked at him. He put a finger to his lips.
"You'll wake Levy!" The blue-haired girl had buried her head in his shirt without being aroused from her slumber.
"The baseball game is a good idea," Lucy whispered. There was an assortment of nods, grunts, and general sounds of agreement. Erza smiled.
"It's agreed, then. Baseball, Saturday night." Jellal quietly got up from his bench.
"Good thing I won eight tickets in the lottery yesterday, huh?" He tossed seven of the eight slips of paper on the table and winked. "See you all Saturday." He left as the others stared.
"Was he planning that the entire time?" Levy yawned and opened her eyes. She took in her friends' awestruck gazes and raised her eyebrows.
"Did I miss something?"
