Itachi enters his house with a very serious and upset look on his face, which catches the attention of Sasuke and his mother. He drags his feet along the floor, heading to his bedroom.

"Big brother, what's wrong?" Sasuke asks with visible concern on his face.

"Oh, it's nothing. My head just hurts a little, Sasuke. Sorry, but I'm just going to sleep." With a smile, Itachi walks away.

He drops on his bedroom and thinks to himself, "should I really be wasting the little time I have left with my family..."

Itachi hears a knock on the door and immediately turns his head. "Oh, mother, it's you-"

Before he could finish the sentence, Mikoto says, "Itachi, I know there's something bothering you, and it's not just a regular headache.. Tell me what's bothering you, son. I'm your mother and my heart won't be at peace until I know your problem."

"Well, mother..." Itachi looks downwards at his hands and begins to think how he should say it, not noticing his mother coming closer to him. "I don't know how to tell you this but..."

Mikoto reassures him with a comforting smile and gently rubs his back. "Just tell me, son."

Itachi sighs and proceeds with the bad news, "Mother... You, father... And every other Uchiha in the Leaf... Are going to be assassinated."

"W-what?" Mikoto says, losing her smile and taking on a very worried appearance. "What about Sasuke and you? Why? What's going on?"

"I'm... I'm sorry but there truly is not much I can do... The people in charge have found out that the Uchiha are plotting against the Leaf... They've ordered me to kill every Uchiha... But I have convinced them to keep Sasuke out of this... After I'm done with these orders, I will leave Konoha forever..."

Mikoto turns her head to the ground. "Well... It was destined to happen sooner or later.. I've lived a good life, Itachi. I have two amazing children. Some of the best friends ever... My only wish was to see you two grow, but it's fine... Just watch over Sasuke when I'm gone, Itachi.." She says walking away from Itachi.

"Mom." Itachi says, stopping his mother.
