Okay, so this isn't a new piece or anything-I wrote it nearly two years ago. I just found it when I was cleaning out my computer and found it mildly endearing and thought to myself, "Why the hell not?" And so here it is. A random little tidbit from thirdgen. As always, and incredibly obviously, JK Rowling is the real genius here.

"Erm… What?" Victiore's face displayed confusion that could be seen even through the green flames.

"I need to know the best places for secret snogging at school," the girl reiterated, taking on the serious expression that her mother was known for.

Victiore looked over her shoulder. "Go away Teddy, this is a private conversation! Now, Rosie, why exactly are you asking me this?"

"Well," Rose began to explain, "my mom and dad wouldn't know, unless they started their relationship sooner than they let on, and honestly, that is just too much information. The boys are too nosy, I don't want to know if Lily knows, and Uncle George seems to have transferred all of his protectiveness onto me. So that leaves you or Teddy, and I figured this was more of a girl talk. It was really process of elimination that I chose you."

Victoire twirled a strand of silky blond hair around her finger, "Yes, I understand that, but who are you snogging and why does it have to be secret?"

Rose's face grew as red as her namesake. "Oh, well, there's this boy who I like, but nobody can know."

Victoire resisted the urge to jump through the fireplace and slap the girl. "Rosie, who is it?"

"You aren't going to give me help until I tell you, are you?"

Victoire's only response was a blank stare.

"Promise not to tell anyone? Not even Teddy? I am sorry, but your boyfriend is a blabbermouth."

The mouth was locked, and the key thrown away, she mimed.

"Scorpius."

"MALFOY?" Victoire could not help but burst out.

"Yes. The very same."

Another blank stare, this time accompanied by a gaping mouth.

Rose never was able to take silence. When asked a question, she could reword her answer to suit the questioner, but silence asked for truth. "I know I said he was a prat, but then we had this herbology project together, and he was really nice, and you should have just seen the way that he took care of his puffapods, it was so sweet, and then we were snogging, and Vic, I think I love him, but the boys hate him from that time in Astronomy five years back, you know, the incident with the star charts and all of the ink."

"How long has it been?" Victoire asked, clasping the bridge of her nose, a habit she had picked up from Teddy.

"Just four months, and I am sorry that I didn't tell you, especially when you told me to come to you with boy stuff, I know you know this stuff, I know you dealt with it when you were in school, but it all just happened so fast, and I wasn't sure how long it was going to last, and I really, really, really didn't want to jinx it, but now it appears that James has picked up a lady friend and they have adopted our favorite spot, and now…"

"Rose, you're rambling."

The stern tone pushed Rose to the brink of tears.

"But, if I were you, I would check out the supply closet a couple doors down from the Charms classroom. Lots of feathers, very comfortable."

Rose entire face lit up and opened her mouth to begin another speech, this one full of thank you's, but…

"Rose, there is no need to thank me. Just tell everyone else soon. The longer you wait, the more painful it ends up being. The boys won't mind as much as long as they know. That's the way that they generally work. Trust me, I know."

And with that, the fire was extinguished, and both girls went to bed with smiles on their faces.
