Through the years after his betrayal, they always seem to almost cross paths...but never actually do.

First Year – A Haven...unknowingly shared

Right in the middle, at the very border between the Leaf and the Sound, was a humungous, ancient tree. One of the Leaf's many wonders.
It was equally distributed on both sides...one could say that the border was the horizontal center of tree.
Dawn colored the tree's pale flowers, making them all seem to have different shades. And for the tree, dawn also brought a certain, constant visitor with it.
.-.-.
She started to come just only recently, this youngster (well, compared to it everything's young, really...minus the soil beneath it, of course; among others).
...Though, come to think of it, it was after that nasty storm about a week ago that she began this routine...because it had provided shelter for the poor child? Perhaps...
Anyway, the human came faithfully every day just to check it. Ah...so many strange things nowadays, it seems. Even trees had doctors now...humans. Hmph. They become more bizarre with the coming of every new century...
...Nevertheless, the tree was actually grateful of the sapling's kindness. It was getting old, you know...how many centuries had it been already...? Ten...? Plus, it hadn't even started complaining about those damn termites yet!
Cough But anyways, the girl ceased its loneliness. None of its own descendants lived anywhere near and its friends, the other trees; did not live long. As a result, it was the only constant there, doomed to see creatures rise and fall while it could do nothing...
She was like one of its flowers...a cherry blossom bud...hopefully will not wither as fast with what she seemed to be, though (kunoichis' life expectancies cannot be predicted, a wise owl that had housed in it said one time ...)...And it knew that she was only starting to blossom and felt that among the other Leafs at her home, she will be the most beautiful flower of all when she has reached the ample time of her spring.
...It wondered sometimes if other creatures, when reincarnated, can become a different creature...because...this blossom was really like one of its own buds...
Hair the shade of cherry blossoms, the first it's seen of such a color on a human (and just imagine how many people it's met before!), which she claimed to be natural on one of her one sided conversations with it which it enjoyed listening to.
Eyes the shade of its leaves during its ample time in spring...
...And the same name it had.
...Sakura...

When its 'daughter' left, it would often be lonely. But not for long as uncannily, as though an opposite of her, he came at midnight. Every night.
Another kid, same age, it decided; but of a different gender and origin. And seriously he was the Moon to the girl's Sun.
And quite ironically, this one started coming on the same day as well – but at night, when the storm decided to continue after a mercilessly hot afternoon. The tree still remembered clearly that he'd practically dragged himself on his feet, his panting heard even with all the noise its in a bad mood friend Gale made. But what the tree knew it could never forget was how the youth looked that first night – eyes the color of its fellow friend, the rose bushes' red roses...and black things the shape of flames all over the uncovered parts of his body.
The lad managed to climb to the lowest of his branches, which thankfully, could withhold his weight, which it noticed was too light to be healthy for a growing male...
He picked up one of its blossoms that had seemed to purposely fall on his knee.
...And then an astounding thing happened...
The eerie tattoos...receded...slowly but constantly into a spiral shape little tattoo on his too pale neck. And his eyes...they dulled to an onyx black.
The seedling, it noticed, held the blossom gently, as though afraid that he might crush it. He was among the few males that it had seen so... unmanly soft with a flower.
After a while, his friend Cloud had stopped sobbing and finally made up with their mutual friend Gale and so Sky could be seen again, a calm darkness bordering its grumpy friend the Moon which seemed to shine a way for the young un to find his way back.
...He brought the blossom with him...
And surprisingly, brought it back the next night...
It had withered, of course...
But the tree's sadness at yet losing another one of its babies lessened...
...When the so called stoic one buried the dead child at its base.
...Perhaps its two adopted non-plant children weren't that different after all.
...Perhaps.
.-.-.
...Oh, if only it knew how close it was to the truth and could move freely...

To be continued

...A tree's POV, almost... I know. Do not say anything -- Hoped you all liked it nevertheless. Thanks for reading 'A Million Chances To Meet: SasuSaku, First Year – A Haven...unknowingly shared. Look out for 'Second Year – An Event...mutually celebrated'. I can't guarantee it coming out right after this one.
