Disclaimer: I don't own Victirous (duh)
Beck knew Jade had a rough day and it tore at his heart to see her crying. He had been holding out on her lately and giving her all sorts of reasons why. He tells her once she's nicer he'll stop holding out but the truth is that it had nothing to do with her. He had a secret. It was a horrible secret and the secret was killing him.
"It's not you," he finally told her, "Jade I… there's something I need to tell you"
She looked up sniffling. He motioned to her to sit down.
"Jade you and I… we can never… be together like that again," he explain.
"I'll try to be nicer," she said, "Please don't say it's too late"
He held her trying to put off saying what he had to say.
"It's not you," he said, "Do you remember about a month ago when I was sick?"
"Yes," she nodded, "That was when you needed the blood transfusion"
He nodded.
"What about it," she asked him.
He really did not want to tell her this. He knew she wasn't in any danger since they had been intimate since his transfusion but this was going to kill her.
"After the transfusion they had my blood tested again every 6 days. About a week ago I got a call."
Jade could remember that day.
She would never forget the look on her boyfriend's face when he got that call. She had asked him about it and he just said he was fine but the look on his face told her otherwise. That was the day he started acting all weird. When he said what he said she thought it was seriousness in his eyes. It was fear.
"Beck what was the call," Jade asked him.
"The blood," he said, "that I got was tainted. The donor was HIV+ and didn't even know it when…"
"You have AIDS," Jade whispered.
"Not yet," Beck said, "But I have the virus that leads to AIDS and I'm NOT going to pass it on to you.
"I know we could use condoms but condoms break. I will not put your life at risk Jade. I just won't do it. I can't do it. You are my life"
Jade thought the worst thing that could ever happen to her was not being able to be with him but this was ten times worse. She could lose him. Correction she WOULD lose him. It was just a matter of when. She clung to him and she let her tears flow knowing that he was hers and would always be in her heart.
