Regina looks down and suddenly notices the ring around Emma's neck. The metal swirled around the chain, and suddenly all she can see is Daniel.
"Where did you get this!?" Regina demands angrily, pointing at Emma's chest.
"Get what…" Emma begins.
"Don't play games with me, Miss Swan; where did you get this!?" Regina says ripping the ring from around Emma's neck.
Emma grabs for the necklace as Regina pulls it away from her. The chain snaps, and the sound is louder than either of them expected it to be.
"Stop! What are you doing!?" She yells.
"This is mine!" Regina says getting up in her face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you Regina!? I've had that ring for years… ever since…" Emma trails off and casts her eyes down.
"Ever since what?" Regina demands.
"…Ever since I could remember. It was wrapped in the blanket I was found in." Emma says in a whisper. Suddenly a sharp pain is felt across her face.
"Liar! You are fucking lying!" Regina screams. Emma is about to hit her back when she notices the tears streaming down the other woman's face. Regina falls to her knees weeping. "He gave it to me… he did… its mine." are her barely audible words.
"Regina, who gave it to you?" Emma asks kneeling down by Regina.
"Get away from me!" Regina yells pushing Emma away from her. The last time she saw Daniel's ring was when she had used the magic left with in it to make the Mad Hatter's hat work. It must have fallen through time and space and came out at the exact place Emma did when she was sent through the wardrobe. She knew magic had a price but this was the biggest cruelest joke that it could ever play on her, as far as Regina was concerned.
The ring was Daniel's talisman, magically linked to his very soul. Why hadn't the hat just destroyed it? After all, Daniel was dead and gone. Why on earth would it end up with her arch nemesis's daughter? Regina could only think of one thing; Emma was Daniel. And for that she felt like she wanted to die. Out of all the cruel ways the universe could use to give Daniel back to her, this was not one she foresaw.
"Regina please if you would just let me help-"Emma began.
"NO! Ever since you've got here you have torn everything apart and now you can't even leave my past alone! You have to rip that apart too! Take away the only happiness I've ever know!" Regina shouts interrupting Emma.
"I don't understand…" Emma says in confusion. She just stares at the broken woman blow her, frozen not knowing what to do. "Maybe I should just go…" she says after a moment.
Regina looks up at her and finally finds the strength to stand.
"You've always thought that running was the answer. Just tear apart someone's world and then run. Leave! Even back then that was your answer! And look how well that turned out!" Regina says taking a step towards Emma.
Emma's eyebrows knit together in anger. "Fuck you Regina; I don't have time for this shit." Thinking that Regina was taking another shot at her past with Henry, she turns to leave but Regina grabs her wrist and spins her around.
The golden spiraled ring is held up in front of Emma's face. It dangles in between them off of Regina's fingers.
"This was the ring Daniel gave to me, before my mother ripped his heart out." Regina says. Her eyes tense and searching Emma's eyes. At first Emma just stares back searching Regina's eyes for more answers. But then her eyes grow wide at the implication.
"This isnt about Henry...It was his idea to run away that night at the stables wasn't it…?" Emma says. Regina nods. "My idea… " Emma says correcting herself in a whisper.
