Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. That would be slavery, and slavery is wrong.
Prologue: Happily Ever Afters
It had been one month since Kagome took her last trip down the well. Exactly thirty-one days later, around dinnertime, Souta found himself answering the door to a rather tall, distinguished-looking man.
"Ah, you must be Souta, nice to finally meet you!" the stranger said, bending down to put himself at eye level with the decidedly confused young boy, and tousling his hair.
"And you are?" the youth grumbled, annoyed.
"A friend of the family." the guest said, somehow having stepped past him, heading for the kitchen.
"Uh, Mama, we have a visitor!" he called out, but at that point he was fairly sure she already knew.
"Can I help you?" he heard her say as he walked into the suddenly crowded kitchen as well.
"Actually, I think I can help you," the man said, as he literally transformed before their eyes. His hair flowed into a waist-length ponytail, and burned to bright red from black, and his fingernails lengthened to sharp claws. Most noticeably however, a quintet of long, fluffy fox tails appeared at his waist. "My name is Shippou. Mama-er, Kagome told me that she told you most of what went on when we travelled together. I thought you would want to know the story's ending. I know I like to hear a happily ever after whenever I get the chance. "
