Note: Rio and Shark's parents will be appearing in this fic. They appeared in the anime but weren't given names so I took the liberty of giving them names myself. They go by Jin and Sakura. Also, I'm aware that they both died due to the car accident but I brought them back to life post Zexal II. Anyways, I hope ya'll enjoy this!

"Thank you, Durbe-kun. You're so sweet."

Rio looked up from helping Iris with her math homework, her pink irises taking in her mother and Durbe standing at the sink doing the dishes together. She rolled her eyes before turning her attention back to Iris' math homework. Out of the five new people taking up space in their house, Durbe was definitely her parents' favorite.

"How does it feel not to be the golden child anymore?" Shark had snarked one day with an obnoxious smirk.

Rio frowned at the memory of her smart ass of a brother saying those words. Her parents being in love with Durbe didn't bother her, no matter how much that idiot Ryoga said otherwise.

"He always volunteers to help around the house. That Durbe would make a great husband, eh, Rio?" Jin had asked her once with a suggestive smile.

"Dad!" Rio exclaimed, cheeks flushed.

Her and Durbe a thing? No thanks! Yes, Durbe was the nicest guy around but they were just friends! She couldn't believe her father even suggested they date, let alone get married! She'd rather date Yuma and have him call her "Shark's sis" the rest of her life! Her mother was no better, to be honest!

"Durbe would take such good care of your father and I in our old age, don't you think, Rio?" Sakura had said with a smile as the two of them browsed the mall together a few days ago.

Rio paused from admiring a cute lacy bra. "Ugh, yeah, I guess."

"I actually have a few good names picked out for you and Durbe's daughter, should you two have one."

Rio dropped the bra in shock, swiveling around to glare at her mother. "Mom!"

'Absolutely ridiculous,' Rio thought with a scowl, glaring holes into the paper in front of Iris. Rio sighed, mumbling under her breath, "Parents…"
