Chapter 1 Followed
That Saturday… as Mitsuki walked through the park with Meroko and Takuto, she felt like someone was watching… and following. They were always just out of sight when she looked behind her.
"What's wrong?" Meroko asked when Mitsuki looked behind her for the third time.
"It feels like... we're being followed." Mitsuki replied.
"There's no one there. Stop worrying so much," said Takuto, looking behind them.
"But…" Mitsuki kept looking, as the Shinigami continued on. Then, slowly, from the nearby bushes, the top of a head, with pale blue hair appeared, followed by a pair of syrup colored eyes. The figure seemed to be watching the Shinigami.
"Eh?!" Mitsuki exclaimed.
"Ah!" the figure gasped, noticing Mitsuki's stare; and their eyes widened. They ducked back into the bushes very quickly.
"There IS someone there! In the bushes over there!" Mitsuki pointed.
"Oh? I'll get them, so don't worry." Takuto flew towards the bushes. Suddenly, whoever was hiding jumped out of the bushes and started running. Now they could see dark blue Capri sweatpants, a pink t-shirt, pale blue hair that was just above her waist with dark blue hair bands near her eyes in her hair. She was about a head taller then Mitsuki.
"Hey! You! Stop!" Takuto yelled.
"No!" the running girl yelled. "I'm not going back!"
"Huh? What does she mean?" Mitsuki asked Meroko.
"I don't know…" Meroko looked over to where the girl was running, with Takuto in hot pursuit. "And… how can she see us Shinigami?
The girl ran along the path, and out of the park. She ran on down the street, glancing behind her every now and then.
"Ah!" The girl gasped. The traffic light had just changed… she would have to stop at the crosswalk!
"I've got you now!" Takuto exclaimed, "What were you doing, following Mitsuki?"
"Heh…" The girl muttered. She didn't slow down at all as she approached the busy street. Suddenly, she leaped into the air, and summer-saluted over and over in mid air.
"Oi! Are you crazy?" Takuto yelled.
The girl landed on her feet, right in the middle of the road. A truck was hurtling towards her. Then the girl did a series of forward handsprings, and was safely across the street. She continued running.
"Well, this girl is either the luckiest, bravest, or craziest girl I have ever seen..." Takuto muttered. He continued after her. "But she could obviously see Meroko and I… so what's up with her?"
The girl ran through alleyways, and long-jumped over a sidewalk that was being repaved. But she was clearly getting tired. She fence-hopped a fence that blocked her path, but she was going slower. The girl suddenly fell flat on the ground in a different alley.
"Uhhhaaagggg…. I'm exhausted…" she groaned. With a pop and a poof of pink smoke, the girl turned into pale blue snake. (That looked like the pokemon Dratini.)
"Huuuuuh?" Takuto said, shocked. He picked up the snake that had been a girl by the back of the neck.
"Hey… put me down." The snake/girl sill sounded tired. Takuto didn't answer, nor did he put her down, but instead flew back towards the park he had left.
Mitsuki and Meroko were sitting on a bench, waiting for Takuto to return.
"Oi!" Both Mitsuki and meroko looked up as Takuto returned, still holding the snake/girl.
"So, who was the girl? And what's with the snake?" Meroko asked.
"We didn't have anything to worry about." Takuto replied, grumpily. "It was just Kanna."
