Hi everyone! I got a few requests to continue on with my one-shot Home, so I figured this would make a good companion to it. Although it could also be read alone as a one-shot by itself. Anyway, thanks very much for all the reviews for Home. I really appreciate them. And thanks for the offers to help, as well. I really am happy that people are enthusiastic about the story. However, this will probably be the end, and if I do write anything else for it, it probably won't be for a while. But still, I thank you for the offer. Now, enough of my blabbering, on with the story!
Responsibility
He watched her disappear through the portal, and he knew in his heart that she wouldn't be coming back. He looked over toward Aslan, then back at the portal. Could he? Would it really be that difficult to just walk through the portal?
He began to walk forward. He would be willing to brave a new world to be with her. No matter how dangerous, strange, or different. He had lived in Telmar all his life, that was true, but he would give it up to be with her.
He heard the voices behind him. The mixed voices of young, old, Telmarine, and Narnian. The voices of hundreds, maybe even a thousand people. His people. If he left, what would become of them? Who would rule in his place?
It would be irresponsible to leave them, and as a Prince, no, now a King, thinking of himself first was not an option. He had learned that the hard way in battle. He could not make such an error again.
He forced himself to turn away from the portal which would have led him back to her, and he would not dare to watch it close. As he walked back toward his people, he heard their cries of joy.
"All hail King Caspian!" But what is a king without a queen?
