A/N- This was written as a drabble request for a friend. Takes place after their A-support. This also assumes that they're pretty much a couple by this point. I hope that you enjoy it.

"How did I let you talk me into this again?" Vanessa said sourly, clenching her teeth as she struggled to untangle her fishing line yet again. "This is ridiculous! There are so many better things that I could be doing right now then fishing."

Her blond haired companion laughed as he regarded her with half-closed eyes. "Because it's been a rough couple of weeks and we both desperately need a break. Relax a bit. This is supposed to be fun and you're turning it into a chore. We are off-duty, after all."

"You seem relaxed enough for both of us." Vanessa scowled for a moment, her expression softening some as their eyes met. With a sigh, the pegasus knight settled down beside her companion and resumed her struggle with the knotted fishing line.

"Can I help you? We might be able to get it untangled quicker if we worked together and you'd probably enjoy this a bit more if you spent more time actually fishing." Forde offered, with a kind smile, reeling in his own line.

Vanessa smiled gratefully and moved closer to him so that they could both work on the tangled string.

"So, when did you learn to fish anyway?" Vanessa asked absentmindedly as she tugged at one of the knots.

"I learned a bit when I was young, but I didn't really take to it much at the time. Franz did though. He reintroduced me to it about a month ago and when this opportunity presented itself... I just couldn't let it pass by like that." The cavalier admitted. "If it makes you feel better though, I had a very hard time at first too. I suppose it's a good thing that my brother is not the teasing type or I'd never hear the end of it." Forde paused for a moment as he glanced over at her questioningly. "I'm a bit surprised that you don't have much experience with fishing though, living as near the ocean as you do."

"I tried it once when I was little, but I didn't like it at the time," Vanessa answered, looking pleased as another knot came undone. "I still don't see the appeal."

"Well, let's see if we can't fix that," Forde answered, a twinkle in his eye as the final knot came apart in his hands. "I think that does it. Should we try again?"

Although she was tempted to refuse, Vanessa found that she couldn't bring herself to walk away from him at that moment. As she picked up the fishing pole, she asked, "Can you show me once more how best to cast the line, so that it doesn't tangle?"

Forde smiled as he went through the process once more with her and, this time, when she released the line, it flew cleanly out into the water. Vanessa beamed happily as Forde congratulated her.

He cast his line again too and then, they sat there together, enjoying the quiet. As Vanessa rested her head against Forde's shoulder, she smiled contently. Perhaps fishing wasn't as bad as she'd always thought.
