Luna walked around the castle listening to the other students chatter about homework, quidditch and fashion. She smiled warmly at all that passed, though few returned it. After a little more mindless wondering she ended up back in her dorm.
"Hmmm...I think I should clean up my drawers and bed," Luna said to no one in particular. She carefully climbed the stairs to the 5th year dorm and then started to clean her room. Luna stumbled upon a pair of shimmery brown silk knee socks, she liked the color it was like the color of Parvati Patil except they had a shine to them.
Luna pulled off her shoes and socks and pulled on the silk ones. She smiled and wiggled her toes, enjoying the feeling. Luna quickly put all of her things back into their place and then slipped on some black flat that she had found in her trunk. Luna had thought of the best thing to do with these amazing socks. She climbed stairs until she found herself on the first floor in the longest hallway at Hogwarts. The hallway was next to the Library and was almost the entire length of the school. Luna smiled at herself and slipped off the flats.
After walking back a few pases Luna ran as fast as she could for about twenty seconds and then she positioned her feet so they were sideways giving her a better angle to slide with. Sliding down the hall she went farther then she anticipated but she enjoyed it. She continued all the way down the hall this way, running and then sliding, that is until she bumped into a group of Gryffindors.
"Oh why hello everyone," Luna smiled widely.
"Err...'ello Luna," Seamus Finnigan said with a questioning look.
"What were you doing Luna?" Neville asked.
"Oh well I was cleaning my room when I found these," Luna lifted her school skirt up a tad pointing at the silk socks on her feet, "and I thought it would be fun to slide around the hallways in them," she smiled and turned around to continue her adventure, she after all had to pick up her shoes.
"Can I try?" Hermione Granger asked, this surprised most of them because Hermione was a no nonsense kind of girl.
"Why of course Hermione, though you will have to take off your shoes to participate," and off Luna went and soon she was followed by a giggly Hermione Granger and not too far off she could here a group of boys chuckling, falling and punching each other.
Looking back Luna realized that she was going further then everyone and it was all because of her shimmery silk socks.
