A/NThis sprung out of my mind and onto my computer screen because I was left plan-less on New Years.I know that when the Buffy team cast Halfrek, they did not realize until it was too late that Kali Rocha also played Cecily in Fool For Love. But they fixed that when they had Halfrek call Spike "William" when they saw each other in season six. This is going to be a story about how Cecily became Halfrek, and how Halfrek became the vengeance demon we know her as.
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I am using the characters, places, and situations as a mere tool for my imagination. I am not nearly as brilliant as Joss Whedon, and I just wanted to borrow his brilliance.
"My heart expands,
'Tis grown a bulge in it,
Inspired by
Your beauty effulgent."
The cruel laughter resonated through the party room as William followed Cecily to the couch.
"Cecily?" William asked as he approached her.
"Oh," she said turning to him. "Leave me alone!"
"Oh," William laughed as he took a seat next to her. "They're vulgarians. They're not like you and I."
"You and I?" Cecily asked, shocked by the assumption that they were the same. "I'm going to ask you a very personal question and I demand an honest answer. Do you understand?" William nodded in agreement. Cecily swallowed as she gained the courage to ask, "Your poetry, it's—they're… not written about me, are they?"
"They're about how I feel." William said as he leaned closer to the curly haired brunette.
"Yes, but are they about me?" Cecily asked getting frustrated.
"Every syllable." William said with an enormous amount of feeling.
"Oh, God!" she said in disgust as she turned from him.
"Oh, uh, I know. It's sudden, and, please if they're no good, they're only words, but the feeling behind them. I love you, Cecily." William said feeling relieved to get this all off of his chest.
"Please stop!"
"I--" he stopped as he looked at her in despair. "I know I'm a bad poet, but I'm a good man. All I ask is that—Is that you try to see me--"
"I do see you," Cecily said and she turned back towards him. "That's the problem. You're nothing to me, William." She stood as she prepared to walk away, and looked down at his eyes looking up to her in hope. "You're beneath me."
"Mother?" Cecily called as she walked through the door to her magnificent house. She took off her coat and left it on the table. She walked towards the parlor in search of her mother, instead she came across one of the servants that worked in her household. "Oh Mary, hello. Did you pick those items up for me?"
"Yes, Miss, I put them in the drawer in your room." Mary said as she looked towards the floor.
"Great, and do you know where my mother is, by any chance?" Cecily asked looking around the well-furnished parlor.
"I believe that she is still at the party down at the Reagan household." Mary said as she continued to look at the floor. "May I ask you something, Miss?"
"Yes, of course." Cecily said still not paying that much attention.
"Did the young James ask you for your hand in marriage?" Mary asked looking up this time.
"No," Cecily said as she continued to survey the room.
"Well, Miss, I will be off then I am about to turn in. Is there anything else that you will be needing?" Mary asked.
"My coat, it's on the front table. Please take care of it." Cecily said as she walked to the bookshelf.
"As you wish," Mary said and she exited the room.
"Where are you?" Cecily whispered to the books as she read the titles. "Ah! There you are!" Cecily pulled a book off of the shelf with a worn cover and walked up the stairs.
