The Ripple Effect

Things just seemed to get worse for Alexander after he released the pamphlet, like when you throw a stone into a still lake, it ripples out further and further until the small stone has effected an entire lake. You ever seen somebody ruin their own life? His poor wife. Rated K because ADULTRY!

The Ripple Effect

(Alexander Hamilton POV)

When I arrive home, I find a folded letter with my name on it. There is no envelope, stamp, or return address, so I asume it is from Eliza. I smoothe out the paper and quickly read the short note:

Alexander, just letting you know that you will be sleeping in your office from now on.

Sincerely, Elizabeth

Great. She must've read the pamphlet too. Perfect. First that awful scolding from Angelica, now this.

Did anyone, anyone understand? Did anyone understand why I had to publish that awful pamphlet? Jefferson, Maddison, and Burr would've ripped me to shreds if they'd gone on with that speculation claim.They would've destroyed my reputation. I

That fact didn't seem to matter anymore, considering that they never had to even try to destroy my reputation. All they had to do was wind me up and let me do all the damage!

"So scared of what your enemies will do to you, you're the only enemy you ever seem to lose to!" Angelica had scolded.

She didn't understand. Nobody did. When I'd tried to explain why I had to publish the pamphlet, she'd said:

"No one ever said you had to have an affair, Alexander. No one said you had to pay a large amount of blackmail money to her husband!"

I'd brushed off that comment, of course I had to pay him the blackmail money! Or else James Reynolds would've told... Eliza. Now that the secret was out, that didn't matter anymore. I passed by the garbage can to throw away Eliza's note, when I notice something that looks like scorched paper. I take most of the pieces out of the trash, taking them to my office, and deciding not to throw out Eliza's note.
